It's not super exciting but the history of the city is so interesting to me...particularly the fact that it was mostly destroyed during WW2 and rebuilt using much of the original stone. This is the case with the Chateau. Small fee is charged to enter...More

We visited this museum on our final day in Saint Malo, and found there was a great deal to see. The Chateau itself is beautiful, and it houses exhibits through the centuries including art pieces, tapestries, dishes, and information on living in Saint-Malo though the...More

A beautiful setting showcases this very good Museums displays that include statuary and some excellent porcelain dishware. The tin-type punch style chest is a gem, as are the colorful and detailed tapestries. Free on some Fridays, it's worth seeing even at cost. Don't miss the...More

Rather an odd museum, does not really have a theme running through it. I suspect it was designed by a bureaucrat over a poor lunch.

The building and general setting for this museum are FANTASTIC....part of the 17th century military fortifications of the magnificent walled city of St Malo. Yet, in return for a 15 Euro family ticket, all we got was 5 rooms with fairly randomly displayed items related...More

Worth a visit just to see the inside of the Chateau. Some interesting sections on the relationship between France and Canada. Didn't go right to the top of the tower as the steps are very steep and narrow, but the views from the lower gallery...More

This museum provides documents showing the life of the sailors who headed for Terre neuve in search of cod fishing. Many photos of their difficult living, model boats, maps. The views from the top are great, especially of the bay, remparts and beaches.

Housed in the old Chateau, this museum tells among other things the story of the exploration of Canada by French seafarers. Model boats, weapons, maps.... Not your kind of thing? Well, the views from the top are super, but be warned, there are lots of...More

Lots to see and the combined ticket gets you free into the sister museum in Saint Servan which is a nice fifteen minute walk from the town centre. My 12 tear old was genuinely interested so I was pleasantly surprised because a lot of these...More
