Sightseeing in France,
Aug 2019
On your visit of the city, you also will pass by this location. And it is ok when you have seen the Saint-Etienne church, to turn arround to that of Saint-Sauveur, on the other side of the cathedral. Its reconstruction was decided in 1701, just one year after the inauguration of the ex-Augustinian church.
Today the Saint-Sauveur church holds a special place in Rennes. Into the 12th century it is mentioned as a “chapel” depending on the abbey of Saint-Georges, and so it keeps for a long time the status of trévial church, even if the baptism font is attested from the 15th century. It was only in the year 1667 that it became the seat of a parish.

Very Impressive,

When we first entered, we felt we were in the Cathedral it was so nice. Wonderful art throughout. Like several of the other churches we visited, the stained glass is almost all new in that these windows were damaged during WWII.

Beautifully ornate and an architectural gem

Rennes is filled with churches, but this one merits a stop for your time in the city. It was open, but completely empty when we visited. The solitude and the magnificence of the building is a delight and the interior appointments are wonderfully maintained.

So many churches, each distinctive. Beautiful organ and gilded wood lectern. Great adoration to Our Lady.

Quiet and Serene

Other than the workers mopping the nave floor, the only sounds are the worshippers praying with the rosary. The interior is beautifully kept.

Simple House of Prayer
Jun 2016 • Couples
Devotees and church goers pray and ask for blessings and guidance with this simple but stunning colors and lavish work inside. Rennes another gem.
