Undulating park with waterfalls grassland fountains trees rose garden and exotic birds to view . Also a small children’s park . In late October very well kept must be a joy in the Spring.

We spent a lovely few hours walking through this park and looking at the waterfalls and birds. A lovely church at the top as well.

Beautiful even in winter
Dec 2019 • Couples
What a beautiful park to stroll through with various different aspects. We wandered through on a late winters day as the fog was setting in but the beauty was still there. I can see it being a popular spot for locals in the summer. If you’re visiting Rennes, spare an hour for a walk. You won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful park near the city center.
Oct 2019
Many flowers were in bloom although we visited the end of October. Formal rose beds, newly planted pansies and a large number of dahlias were all blooming and identified. There are playground areas for kids, the fowl enclosure was a favorite for our granddaughter and we appreciated the pictures for identification. I enjoyed the identification plaques on trees and was surprised to see quite a large Sequoia from the western US. There are many paths to wander in this park so seeing all of it would take some time but we strolled through several times while in Rennes and found the waterfall, the aviary, the walls but did not find the cave mentioned in other reviews. On Friday morning we were treated to the sound of the bells at the adjacent church...frosting on the cake! One thing that always surprises me in French parks is that walking on grass is prohibited so stay on the path unless otherwise instructed. This park is well worth a visit if you are in Rennes.

A marvelous surprise
Sep 2019
We stopped in Rennes on our way to Mont St-Michel. We're so glad we did. Not only did we find this compact town walkable and friendly, but we were pleased to discover its wonderful garden. It was worthy of a couple of hours, even on a brisk, showery day. Set in the site of an old quarry, it rich with water features amid old-growth plantings, with woodsy paths connecting the lower levels to the more formal gardens above. Though it was late in the season, the formal, flowering gardens were still rich with colorful blooms. In the middle of the park, we came upon the lovely aviary and its contributions of amazing colors. Parc du Thabor is a garden worth detouring to visit.

If you have an hour or two...
Oct 2019
Parc du Thabor is a lovely park not too far from the centre of Rennes. At the end of October, the Parc is at the end of the summer/autumn plantings. It was still a very pleasant place to wander around. In peak season it would be delightful.

Relax
Sep 2019
Take time out and relax.
Situated just away from the main attractions of the old town in the shadow of the St-Melaine church we found this peaceful park.
There is plenty of space to stroll around in this clean well kept park / gardens and discover it's secrets. From "formal" well laid out areas to open spaces - an aviary and animal enclosure.
During our visit the 100's of roses were in bloom alongside beds of dahlias. The colour & scent incredible.
Unfortunately the "Orangerie" was not open to the public during our visit.
A great place to sit and recharge the batteries before continuing your sightseeing around Rennes.

Peaceful Location
Aug 2019
A nice park with plenty of footpaths. We were amazed at how clean and well maintained the grounds were. There wasn't a piece of litter or an empty bottle to detract from the beauty of the park. If it wasn't so hot the day we visited, we'd probably have walked through the park a second time, it was that appealing.
