Sightseeing in France,
Aug 2019
he “Saint-Pierre cathedral” in Rennes is a “Roman catholic cathedral”, located in the heart of the city of Rennes. It is the seat of the archdiocese of Rennes, Dol and Saint-Malo. Built in a Classical style, it is one of the nine historic cathedrals of Brittany. Classified as a historical monument since October 1961.
The present location of the cathedral was already been used as a seat of a bishopric and this since the 6th century. It is likely that it was built in place of an older sanctuary. The old building was completely replaced by a Gothic church in the 12th century.

Another Cathedral

We just seem to stumble across them and to be honest the exterior is not much to look at.

Beautiful on the inside
Jun 2019
On the outside it just looks like any other cathedral in France (sorry), but the Ah's and Oh's will not stop when you see the beautifully decorated interiors of this church. One of the highlights we have seen on our trip to France. The marble, the colours, the detailed work make it look quite special. Surely worth a visit when you are in Rennes.

Cinematic cathedral
Jul 2019 • Friends
The exterior of the cathedral, although it is beautiful, it is deceiving; the interior is much interesting. The interior is from the XIX century and it is lavish, sumptuous and quite cinematic; If I were a film director I will pick this place for its atmosphere, between luxurious and mysterious. Definitively a must while in Rennes.

Beautiful and Distinctive Church
May 2019 • Couples
A quick few moments inside reveal a handsome and singular church with massive marble columns, plenty of interesting stained glass windows and the gravitas of an ancient and venerable place. A service was going on, so we stayed discretely in the back. Clearly, an important church for the city and the region.

Interesting
Apr 2019 • Friends
There's a lot of building work going on at the moment so it was difficult to get a proper feel of this place. Some great things to see inside though.

Worth a visit
Jan 2019 • Friends
Definitely worth looking inside to see the rather magnificent interior. There are leaflets by the door which you can pick up for 50 cents in an honesty box.

One of the finest Cathedrals
Sep 2018 • Family
This cathedral is so impressive it is difficult to describe. Dark embossed wood dominates the walls and ceiling. The building is very large, with several entrances. I will post photos on TravelWiseEurope.com
