Lovely riverside walk

The Jardin du Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest is more of a park in a winding river valley. As such it is a long narrow shape. It's free to enter if you're not visiting the greenhouses which aren't open in winter.
There are several crossing points along the river so you can do a lap involving both sides of varying lengths. There is at least one other path to take away from the river the entire length of the park. There are various paths going up into the wooded hill to the north east some of which lead to fields and rural roads.
The fact that it is a botanic garden means that all the catalogued plants are labelled which is a nice bonus, I'm not convinced of how much variety there is outside of the glasshouses.

This is a diamond in the rough. It was a little bit difficult to find but once there you feel like you are miles from civilization. The place is absolutely stunning.

Hardly worth the effort

This was part of a bus tour and we arrived on a rainy day to do a walking tour of some rather ordinary public gardens. The highlight was getting out of the rain to have crepes.

Pleasant landsaped gardens near the marina area of Brest. There is a pleasant restaurant and a lake. Nice afternoon stroll.

Relax & enjoy.

The Greenhouses are only open June/July, but the gardens are pleasant to walk around, with plenty of seats available as you progress. Whilst there is a charge to visit the Greenhouses when they are open, the gardens are free.

Some interesting plants , not a great deal of English info if you happen to be a monoglot

Greenhouses are excellent , the park and surrounds beautiful.
Hard to find if on foot though! The directions from the Bus stop are a disaster , walking up from Port Plaisance is a nicer and flatter option.

Worth a stroll

Interesting layout with some very pretty settings. I liked the idea of the water running the gardens but all seemed a similar with many plants like bamboo hardly native to the area. But you have to admire the hard work that has gone into this and it is a pity we don't have more like this in England.

A lovely garden filled with unusual plants. Well worth spending a few hours there, and walking down to the beach and back. You can also eat some crêpes along the way.
