Paimpont itself is very small with a beautiful lake that you can walk along. This is the Hippie capital of Brittany we felt with many dreads, mohawks, and balloon style trouser folk! Really consists of just one street. The forests around the area have some really beautiful woods but Merlin and the Fountain of Youth.... well a few stones and... More

Over rated, dull, no wildlife to see. Wish we hadn't wasted half a day of our precious holiday visiting it.

La Forêt de Paimpont is also known as the forest of Brocéliande, where supposedly King Arthur at one time residedand where Merlin was supposedly buried. Walking through this forest will introduce anyone to the legends associated with Merlin. A truly beautiful forest, but not one to lose your wits in. Paths criss-cross, disappear or merge together and the lack of easily identifiable signage can make hiking here somewhat stressful. It's a big forest full of legends about King Arthur and Merlin. It contains, amongst other things Merlins Tomb and the Fountain of Youth.
