Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Botanical garden? Designed by landscapers?
Genesis is not always happy .... Botanical names are disappearing, the flat strips of vegetables in permaculture have taken precedence over the conservation of rarer or endemic plants on our oceanic facade....
The Mediterranean greenhouse goes well beyond its advertised specialty: South American pereskia, Malagasy nepenthes? ....all on a riquiquitous surface ....
A little disappointed by the whole thing.

Browse this green place is a pleasure. We're transported out of town in
a charming and peaceful place.
On the other hand the greenhouse disappointed us a little despite its interesting and informative side.
It can be visited quickly and the Award is a little expensive for the service it offers,
Pretty small.
The Garden can be visited until 20:00 in summer, and until 18:00 in winter.
Attention the greenhouse is closed on Monday.

A different style to the usual perceived idea of a Botanical Garden and it could be so good. Somehow though it looks like it started with a grand plan but was then left and never developed through. It certainly needs a lot of care and attention to make it something it has the potential to be. There were signs saying there was a cafe but after searching and asking local people, we could not find one, a lovely hot day and nowhere for a refreshing drink!

This botanical garden is the worst garden we ever visited. The plates indicate that the (new) garden was opened in 1977. Well, that's visible. You are not allowed to visit the 'islands' (paysages) and the 'walkways' in the pond. Name plates of the plants and trees are many times not available. The garden is free to visit, except for the greenhouse (4€, but better keep this in your pocket). Catering facility available, but when you want to drink something during lunchtime, then you're send away.

Headed here on our first evening in this lovely city. Some good points some not so good. Saw Canada geese flying in for the evening.
Understood what they are trying to achieve in the area but does need some TLC. There were steps up to a load of dead ferns. Watering needed.
A good range of plants but mega room for development and improvement

As a keen gardener i always like to make a point of visiting botanical gardens when i visit a city, after reading an article in Bordeaux Moments i was looking forward to an interesting and inspiring visit.
The main gardens are scruffy and overgrown with weeds, and give the impression that no one cared for them. After making our way through the overgrown paths we came to the main attraction, discribed as the Botanical Gardens incredible greenhouses, it looked like big plastic boxes. The receptionist looked a bit shocked to see a visitor and took our 4euro per person entrance fee and directed us to the door of the greenhouse. It contained a variety of plants from across the world and they practice very eco friendy pest control and use rainwater to water plants. There was a display of old books and drawing of plants and a timeline of botanist from around the world.
I found the visit uninspiring and took less than half an hour and not worth the effort or time.

This may not be the prettiest garden, as other reviewers have noticed, but it is instructive for children and anyone wanting to explore a variety of plants and trees from around the world. The signage is good, at least in French. At the far end of the garden there is another park that runs along the river with good views of the city.

I had read a lot of fairly negative reviews of the Garden, that might have deterred me from visiting. That would have been a shame, as there is much to commend here. It is not one of the world's great Botanic Gardens and would not claim to be. What it does offer is a really interesting construction of many of the habitats of south west France, created in as naturalistic a way as possible.
There were a few beds that could have done with a little attention but this did not spoil the overall impact. There were plots showing the cultivation of vines, vegetables and fruit and the overall impression was of a serious attempt to educate as well as the creation of a lovely place to wander
You could spend a happy hour or two here, as were many locals as well as tourists when I visited on a sunny October day
The adjacent Park Des Angeliques is also worth a look. This is about Garonne river bank restoration and wildlife habitat creation as part of a wider urban regeneration project on the Right Bank
