I don't really understand how you can "rate" a governmental organization. However, a classic visit consists of 1hr in the hemicycle, where you can follow the MEPs' debates on the subjects of the day, and 1hr conference with your group in a meeting room, where the EP's work gets explained. Hence it all really depends on who is in charge... More

The visit is very interesting and you learn a lot about how the EEU functions. In the meantime, since there is also a large EEU building complex in Bruxelles, and the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, and when you know that many French European deputies rarely show up but get highly paid, you cannot resist feeling that there is an... Although it hosts plenary meetings of the European Parliament only a week per month, the building is quite huge. It is mainly made up of steel and glass, a symbol of transparency, and is also full of plants. There are many small rooms for members, the plenary room, several long halls and the restaurant. The place you should not miss... More

Just outside of the centre of Strasbourg sits the European Parliament. A huge structure - quite interesting architecturally because you wonder - at least I wondered - why it is so big. You can't go in - so that's the limit of it really. I suppose if you're in Strasbourg, you have a free hour, and you want to see... More

We were fortunate to've paid a visit to the European Parliament house on the open doors day! Not sure if the (paid) guided tour includes the areas that were accessible that day. However, it is a wonderful experience to visit this modern building, that has a feel of nature on the inside (quadrangle floor length creeping plants). The auditoriums are... More

Open day for 'citizens' on 2nd May only. Not to be missed. Brilliant to be able to wander round inside including the debating chambers - very well organised, and very informal. We arrived at 5pm and left at about 7pm (it closes at 6pm). It must have cost millions of Euros just for that day. But we thoroughly enjoyed seeing... More

I've always heard of the European Parliament but being there in person makes such a difference. Seeing the flags of each European countries waving is so breathtaking.

I e-mailed a request to the address referenced on the European Parliament web-site and my wife and I were added to an English language group guided tour of the Parliament building. This is an impressive facility and the tour guide was great.
