The biggest surprise in Manchester! Beautiful building, super atmosphere, one can browse the books, old films and videos, archives. You can have a cup of tea, sit on sofa or in a big armchair and enjoy any book you like. The right place to go when the weather outside does not fit your taste.

Have spent hours over the years research family history in the archives. Live locally. Very many departments with old collections, ie music, films etc

Expected a rather old-fashioned library (don't be deceived by the exterior). Enjoyed myself with the digital interactives inside. The team has done a good job in making the library a fun place!

Great soup and espresso in a peaceful environment. Just what you need amidst all the hustle of city centre life. I'll be back.

Lived in Manchester for 15 years from 1971 to 1986 and this building has hardly changed on the outside and is still very impressive as it is on the inside. Go see for yourself

You go past the Manchester Central Library if you travel on the tram between St Peter's Square and Deansgate and it's just a stone's throw from St Peter's Square stop. It's a really beautiful building and well worth taking in. Whilst I was there an exhibition was on showing Jill Furmanovsky's photos of Oasis which was worth checking out. Stunning... More
