What to say , its Albert Square , a very big statue of Albert, under a covered stone gazebo style area, worth a look , but don't bother crossing town for it unless he was a relative.

The Jazz festival was on last weekend when we were there and the place was really lively. The square is surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Give it a try.

Having worked here and spent many a happy hour watching festivals and music and speeches in the square, I would recommend people look at the gothic town hall, the statues and those on nearby brazenose street, as these may surprise you.

There are are some ok restaurants around the square and of course the town hall is right there and worth seeing, but the square itself is under a lot of construction so you can't see much.

We visited during the Manchester International Festival so we couldn't appreciate its beauty in its entirety. A sure to visit in Manchester. Very close to John Ryland's Library.

Albert square plays host to numerous festival and events throughout the year. The best and number one must vist has to be the German market that runs throughout December. Enjoy muled wine and eat hotdogs while walking between quirky stalls Great fun
