Still a very popular area of the city peaceful and interesting. It has a number of statutes and a water fountain and many trees to stand in shade come the summer. You will find many shops you know a few you don't, down old bank street you will find out of the way cafe and a bar both selling great... More

It's hard not to be distracted by all the glass towers that have gone up and continue to rise in modern Manchester. St. Ann's Square is a cure for that and gives a taste of the older side of the city. The architecture is more in line with one would hope to find embraced as England has matured. There are... More

You can wander around or sit down to experience the traditional Manchester buildings and the busy square and I just love watching people passing by.

This use to be a lovely square with upmarket shops. Over the past few years the square has become very run down, empty shops and rubbish strewn everywhere. The only time this is worth visiting is when the Christmas market or other festive markets are on.

Most of its historic buildings, including the church of the same name, and statues, have survived. Its show-stopper is the Royal Exchange Theatre, which also fronts Cross Street and Market Street. Unfortunately, opposite it is an incongruous modern building, which... More

A public square that marks one end of the Central Retail District. A pleasant place to stroll, shop, and people watch.

The square is a bustling area and on the day that we visited there were lots of displays associated with the Chinese new Year. At one end of the square is the lovely St Anne's church which is well worth a visit.
