Visited on our way to york, unfortunately the city of Doncaster doesn´t match other cities all over England, it's dirty not well preserved and you don´t fell safe at all, this cathedral matches the city, good to visit but has little to offer.

Thank you for your comments. Doncaster Minster is situated in the town of Doncaster and you are advised to address your comments about the town to the local authority rather than to the Minster. The Minster is a Grade 1 Listed building, designed by the eminent Gilbert George Scott and consecrated for use in 1858. As such, it is a... More

This is a lovely airy church with a high roof and a number of impressive stained glass windows and a lovely alter. It's free though donations are appreciated and it's open to visitors from 1030 to 1530 Monday to Friday (shorter times on Saturdays). A number of well designed and informative interpretation boards explain the church's history and how it... More

I saw a picture of altar on Facebook and I loved it. So I asked my husband to make a trip to Doncaster and visit the minster, by architect George Gilbert Scott. We haven't been disappointed. Entering the church a steward ( later in the talk he said he's chair of the Doncaster Historical Society - hence the great knowledge... More

Thank you for lovely comments. We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit and are even planning another visit. We are blessed that the Minster sits on such a historical site and has a rich history of its own. This church is historic, beautiful, awe-inspiring and everyone should take the opportunity to see it, inside and outside. My highlight was some years ago, attending Christmas Eve midnight service on a bitterly cold night when the choir's singing was coming out as white breath. Truly memorable.

Thank you for your very positive comments. One thing that has changed is that anyone who attends our Midnight Services nowadays (or any of our other services) can do it knowing that we have a very efficient heating system, banishing memories of the choirs' white breath to the history books. More

Easily the most attractive structure in Doncaster though, admittedly, the competition isn't tough. Thankfully, the Minster is set apart from the hurly burly of the town's pedestrianised shopping areas. It's a small oasis of calm alongside a dual carriageway. Plenty to admire, inside and out. A must-see destination if you've visiting Doncaster.

The Minster is a wonderful building with lovely stained glass windows. It is built so high that it is difficult to understand how they managed to build it which is the case with a lot of churches and cathedrals. It is built on the site of another church which burned down in 1853 and was designed by George Gilbert Scott... More

The days on which we are allowed to fly any flag at the Minster are governed by the Flag Institute of the Church of England. We are not allowed to fly the Flag of St George permanently. Thus, we can fly the flag of St George on St George's Day and this year we flew it for over a week... More
