This is one of the gems of England and Gloucester in particular. These buildings are unbelievable with an original medieval 'scissors and brace' roof and the oldest 'library' in Britain in the scriptorium building.

A lovely Priory to wander around. It was turned into a Tudor mansion etc but has been restored as much as possible to the medieval building.I was also fortunate and got to look around the Scriptorium, which is well worth a look. The woman on duty was very helpful and friendly.

When I took part in a guided walking tour offered by the Civic Trust I didn't know that we would come to this priory. The guide told me that it is rarely open (unless for concerts or events you book yourself, e.g. weddings) but we were lucky to be able to enter the grounds so that he could introduce me... More

I accidentally came across this when wandering around the city, but it won't be my last visit. One of the best preserved Blackfriar priory's in the country and sensational. Need to be careful about visiting as it is used for many events and can be closed at random times so check before travelling.

lovely medieval building with modern restoration inside. has a lovely large courtyard with an ancient apple tree, when we go again I play to take some apples to see if I can grow some seedlings to plant. there are often trade fairs here where an entry fee is charged. we went to a jazz festival it was fun, also antique... Access is restricted to certain times. A small Monastery that was purchased as a home and business premises .This ensured its survival to this day in an almost intact form.mthe monestary, in its time was small and had 20 -30 monks.

went to an antique fair here, loved the renovations of the old building sympathetically done, its big inside and plenty of light, there is a large grassy courtyard with seating. clean modern wc's. the refurbishments to make it safe have not spoilt this wonderful ancient building.

We came here for the annual Cotswold Monochrome photographic exhibition. Although the exhibition was extremely good, we had to work hard not to be distracted by the interleaved architecture of the past seven centuries, both in the exhibition space and in the courtyard outside. We hope we might be able to return on another occasion to spend more time looking... More

We came here during a recent trip to Gkoucester, able to do so because of a retro/vintage fair. It only seems open on a Sunday or Monday, so if you keep an eye out for some other event, you may be able to visit it for a small charge. The interior is very interesting, with a lovely ceiling, but there's... More
