Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a total joy and surprise. I never knew there was a second national botanic gardens in Ireland, but I would recommend it completely if you have any interest in the natural world. The tour guide Mary was knowledgable and enthusiastic, and adjusted the tour to cater for the interests of the group - there is so much to see that you could be there all day! Would love to return in the autumn when the leaves start to change colour.

Our annual garden pilgrimage lead us to Kilmacurragh Arboretum. Hailing from Dublin, I have been to the National Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin so many times, but, and to my shame, never to Kilmacurragh. We did the tour with Deirdre and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch in the Acton Cafe. The team were fantastic, even with the packed lunchtime crowd they were efficient and friendly.

We went on the guided tour with Maggie on 21/6/'22. She was excellent. She was very pleasant and good-humoured, her commentary was very informative and she interacted very well with all those on her tour. The gardens are simply fabulous - the trees, shrubs, wildflower meadow, pond etc. It's a haven of beauty and peace with all the beautiful sights and sounds of nature at its best.

We had a beautiful visit to the gardens this morning. Maggie gave us an incredible guided tour that we enjoyed beyond all. Her knowledge of the trees, shrubs and flowers is incredible and also her knowledge of the history of the place and people who lived in it. She kept us spellbound for the entire tour and her passion and love of the gardens was infectious! Thank you so much Maggie. You made our day!

The gardens are absolutely gorgeous .
There is so much work being done , lots of new planting . In a few years the gardens will be stunning . Some unusual trees and lots of flowers .
Well worth visiting .

When you drive into the pathway leading up to the garden, we are greeted with large rhododendron on both side. Hats off to the gardener and park maintenance staff. The ground is beautiful and all the plants are heath. Thank you for giving us a wonderful trip.

Visited mid March and thanks to Mary for a wonderful guided tour. This lady has amazing knowledge, but also her love and enthusiasm for the work she does shines through. The day was bright and beautiful, the gardens were full of Spring growth, there was so much to see. The Magnolia campbellii and Crocus Lawn are spectacular - a must see. Looking forward to going back for the Rhodenderon. Thanks again to Mary for a great visit.

A hidden gem just outside of Dublin this is a place we will return to now often with incredible countryside, interesting walks, and just a place to go and unwind from the city. There are picnic tables and everything is well maintained and just amazing we have this so close to Dublin and for no charge at all.

When is the best time of year to see the rhododendrons? We are getting married in early june and would love to get some photos.

We got married here on the 5th of May 2005, I think the Rhododendrons were at their best at this time that year. We regularly go back as we are from Wicklow, but always feel that the flowers have peaked towards the start of May.
