We were running late trying to get to Tintern Abbey and only had about 45 minutes to explore. Just the history of the area (where brass was first made) and the architecture of the abbey were very interesting. Also walking around the area and learning...More

You could write a mini-series focused on the history of this Abbey and the families that owned it. It has everything, Henry VIII took it from the monks, Catholic versus Protestant relatives, the Fenian up-rising and the eccentric last owner. Stop by the tea house...More

Visited while staying at Castle Kilkea. In addition to the Abbey, wonderful trails to walk and gardens to visit. Very much worth a 2 hour visit.

An interesting stop in the lovely Irish countryside. Castle is prettier from outside than inside (as with most buildings of this type). Great friendly staff. Interesting history

A place with history. But how could one restore the main window of the abbey in such a terrible way. Even from afar it is a clear distaste. Happily the tearoom compensates for all this misery and do taste the home made soup!!!

I would not call this place a must to see but definitely a lovely surroundings for a leisurely day. Not the biggest place for walks and cannot comment on the tour as I didn't have one. Lovely historic place with it's own gardens
