Walked here from Hook Head lighthouse along the coast & back along the road-a very pleasant stroll. Small fishing settlement with semi-derelict fifteenth century castle. An enjoyable part of the Hook Head experience with great views east along the south Wexford coast. Just don't expect shops or any other facilities apart from toilets.

The castle is just a ruin that is not open to the public, but it is still a nice view. The harbour is a working one. There is a walk from Slade to the Hook lighthouse that will take you along the Coastline. This has some nice views. Just beware of the cows that are in the fields. The rocks... More

We regularly visit Hook Head and walk the cliffs to Slade including the Castle and return by road. We did it again this summer and enjoyed the tranquility and unspoilt beauty of the area. But i cant agree wirh other reviewers that the potential of Sladd Castle and Harbour has been exploited all that much and as much as I'd... More

We stopped off with the kids, and we walked the coast from slade to hook which was fantastic but the castle could be renovated and opened to the public as you see what you need to see in 10 minutes.

A pity that the interior of what looks to be a fascinating castle is not accessible to visitors. However the location, perched on the edge of a picturesque small harbour, is delightful.

Nice seaside village with the castle ruins sitting nicely next to the boat harbour. The ruins are locked up so you can only see the outside but there is an information board just outside with the history. It was difficult to park as it was very busy closer to the ruins so expect a little walk to the ruins. The... More

a lovely walk around a lovely area, if you are there when the boats come in, passing the time watching the men/ladies at work is a relaxing way to pass the time
