Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Hook Peninsula is just packed with history. On the tip is the world's oldest working lighthouse; 800 years and still going. A couple of miles further inland you will find a Templar's church, a bay where sunken Spanish treasure washes up from time to time, Duncannon Fort, the remarkable Tintern Abbey, Colclough Walled Gardens, and even a shipwreck!
Throw in a few great pubs (Roche's in Duncannon village is a favourite), plus possibly the best restaurant in Ireland (Aldridge Lodge) and you have the makings of a great holiday.
Definitely one of the great undiscovered parts of Ireland and only 45 minutes from Rosslare ferry port.

Love this drive, so many things to see and do along the way. I often do this drive. Start out in Duncannon and go to Booley or Dollar Bay for a walk. Onto the Lighthouse where I could spend hours. Back through Fethard for a bit of lunch in Nevilles. Onto Tintern Abby for a walk or a look at the gardens. Loads of other variations of it too!

Even though we are traveling in November, the ring of Hook was a lovely drive. There are so many sites to see along the way. Many of the restaurants are closed for the season so we timed lunch for the lighthouse. Highly recommend the seafood chowder and the fish and chips. It took us about 8 hours to stop off at all the sites throughout the day.

Hook lighthouse was a picturesque attraction, with a lovely cliff view. We were disappointed that we were not allowed in after a long drive, which kept us late for our slot. But will go again some day. Just don't be late for your slot. My worst thing of my lovely weekend in Wexford. But the place is amazing anyway.

I loved the views, the stone walls, the ruined cottages, the lighthouse on the peninsula, the ruined church. I could go do it all again tomorrow and maybe see a whale, seal or dolphin! We had a great lunch in Fethard on the way to the Ring.

We parked the car in Duncannon and headed off on the bikes. Not for the faint hearted. I'd say the first 3 kms were uphill (great freefalling on the return journey). The roads are narrow but motorists were very polite so felt totally safe. The views in the end were worth it. The light house is lovely (oldest operating lighthouse in the world) and a great coffee shop to booth, treat yourself to some of the wonderful cakes. The views over the bay were fantastic. We will have to revisit as the haunted house along the route only opens at certain times of the year. The templar church was also worth a stopover. Once we got back to Duncannon we walked the beach. The whole day was a pleasure. I'm only rating a very good based on the uphill struggle to get there, however if I was in the car I would definitely rate as excellent.
