If you ever feel sorry for yourself you should visit an exhibition like this to see what a terrible experience these poor people had. The tour, which included an introductory video, a guided tour of the ship and an actor playing the part of a passenger was really though provoking. Thanks to our knowledgeable guide Des, and also for recommending that we visit the Hook lighthouse and use the Ballyhack ferry to Waterford. Both were excellent.

My father's ancestors would have come to America on a boat much like this one. Seeing it and understanding the horrowing trip was truly an eye opener.
The rebuilt Dunbrody is being well maintained and the guide and actors do a great job with their parts.
Thank you for the informative experience!

This was our first museum in our week-long trip to Ireland and it did not disappoint. There was a new trainee who did a great job answering questions and showing us the displays. We loved the characters on the ship and they stayed in character when we got to the gift shop! Our teens got a much better sense of the tragedy which helped frame the lens for the rest of our trip.

Really enjoyable trip the The Dunbrody Famine Ship. We booked online and found it great value for money for a family of 4. The staff were very friendly and our tour guide Theresa was very informative and really gave a great idea of the hardships on board the ship during famine times. During the tour, we were introduced to 2 actors playing the roles of a poor steerage passenger and another, first class passenger and they gave detailed accounts of what it was like to be on the ship at the time. The kids loved these as did myself and my husband. Once the tour was over, we were allowed walk around the ship on our own. Overall this was a 5 star visit.

We spent a lovely hour guided by the animated Jason through the history of the famine ship. My 12 year old thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot about our history. Although a very sad period of Irish History it was great to hear that the loss of life on board the Dunbrody was very low and so we got to experience life onboard by a reenactment from Mrs.White. Thanks to the lovely team for an enjoyable visit.

Nice recreation of the Famine ship, interesting history of the famine times and how people made it to different parts Europe, America and other parts of the world, the tour guide was informative and some scenes enacted within the body of the ship was interesting too, spent close to an hour ... enjoyed the experience on the whole..

Crewmate Jason and his newest deckhand Owen provided us a wonderful experience about the lives and history of the Dunbrody Famine Ship and local area. We were also treated to a fabulous theatrical performance by another colleague showcasing the attitudes of the first class passenger. Being the off season, we finished off by being given the run of the ship to ourselves and took the obligatory turn sailing the ship and shouting "land ahoy". Great way to spend an hour or so, meet some interesting locals and learn about the local area both past and present.

In approximately 1 hour we had a great overwiev of the Irish history during the time of the Famine and how these ships played a role in it. The replica is really well made and gives a better impression of how it was to travel with this ship back in the 19th century. Our tour guide (Jason) was really fun, he made it very entertaining but we learned something at the same time. In the end we had enough time to take some pictures which is definitely a positive point.

An absolutely fabulous exhibit. If you are looking for an enjoyable hour or so and enjoy a little history, then I can thoroughly recommend this replica ship. It's very enjoyable and extremely informative and you seriously get a wonderful sense of the experience a nineteenth century Atlantic boat crossing would have entailed with regard to the conditions, the food and the cramped facilities a passenger had to endure. Do give it a try.

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of the Dunbrody. Its a fantastic reconstruction and the guide was fascinating.
The tour begins in the interpretive centre where you are shown a short film about emigration during the famine and conditions on board ship. The guide continues the tour aboard the ship itself before leaving you to look around for yourself.
The captains and officers quarters are reconstructed, as are first class and steerage. They have model food and all sorts of props from slop buckets to sacks of grain!
On deck you can ring the ship's bell and turn the wheel. Great views of the whole ship bd the river from the Keel and the bow.
The tour finished back inside the interpretive centre where I especially liked the info and short film on Savannah, Georgia where the New Ross coffin shops mainly went.
I felt that the one thing I'd have liked is more info panels on board thd ship and perhaps more interactive displays in the centre. But on the whole its a fantastic experience one I'd highly recommend.
