Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location is ideal, with lots of parking. We pre-booked our tickets. The famine ship was fabulous and the whole family actually really enjoyed the trip.

The Dunbrody is an accurate replica of the ship that carried between 200 and 300 poor starving people across the Atlantic to search for a new life in the famine years. One can only imagine the horrible conditions below decks as the ship pitched about in heavy seas. People were allowed on deck once a day for about half an hour to cook food for that day, then had to return below decks. If the weather was rough the hatches were kept shut and the people were in darkness, sometimes for several days. In many ships sickness was rife and the death rate soared. No wonder these ships were often called "coffin ships".

An absolute joy for this tree loving family to experience this arboritum.I could have spent a week here exploring_ stunning !! Super playground and fun mini train ride for kids.We also had a very nice lunch and excellent coffee in the tearooms.JFK exhibit was interesting enough but only one room so about 20 minutes to see it.The magic is in walking around the parklands. The lady running the train station as well as the lady at the gate in were particularly charming .

This attraction takes you back in time to really feel what our ancestors when thru to migrate to America. The new centre is excellent. It gives you a great sense of what you are about to experience, the background if you will. The animation with real people in costume is superbly done and the kids on the tour were really engaged.
Once you get to the ship it all comes alive. As you walk around audio stories are automatically triggered. Down below it's the same, you explore freely poking your head into cabins to discover stories. Then the characters share stories of the real families who travelled on the voyage. I have to say for a small attraction in a small town it's a world class experience. So many historical sites are so darn boring and this one comes alive and shares stories in a way even kids can relate to history... we need more like this.

I visited in July 2011 after the relaunch of the attraction with enhanced visitor facilities. I and my 2 sons 7 and 5 were very impressed. At reception you are given your entrance tickets which bear the name (all different ) of actual emigrants who sailed on the Dunbrody. You then go to a waiting area and view the exhibition and an excellent filmed reconstruciton of emigrants. The introductions are done by characters in costume and it is very authentic. You then view the conditions onboard the ship. We found it excellent and very child friendly attraction. There is also a reasonably priced cafe with lovely views of the ship. Well worth a visit

My father and I stopped by to the cafe here today for breakfast and we were greeted by Ann who was just so welcoming and we were served by 2 others, a gentleman and a girl who were equally professional and friendly.
The food was top notch and we will certainly be back.
Kind regards,
Darragh

Very nice experience. Both children and parents loved it. The guide was good but the two ladies that were actresses were excellent. Great characters the made the ship come alive :)

The video presentation is quite good at the beginning. The actors on board are well versed. They never seem to age,and the woman with the baby has stayed very youthful despite the conditions encountered on such a perilous journey. The ship itself is a credit to her builders, and it is somewhat sad to see her on permanent display here.I hope that in the future the ship might sail again on a regular basis.Down below is very interesting, with the guides very well up on historical facts.Certaily well worth a visit. The upstairs restaurant is an ideal spot for a good meal with fantastic views over the ship and river. The shop is lacking serious athmosphere, and is poorly stocked.

A visit to this replica of the emigrant ship Dunbrody is well worth a visit. The ship was made locally and has actors on board to re-enact life aboard. It is particularly interesting for children.
The cafe is excellent but the shop is dire. Full of tat and no local crafts.
