You should check out the maps of the area before you go. There are dozens of ringforts and castles on this route, none of which have been identified with signage because of the risk of individuals traspassing on private land. You don't have to trespass....More

Great day out on a flat Greenway, seeing the Irish countryside. It's completely separated from traffic the whole distance between Mullingar to Athlone. Perfect for all levels of fitness/cycle fitness levels.

Get yourself on a bike and cycle this for an hour or so. The country setting is beautiful. Especially when the sun is shining.

Sir You do appear to miss the point. Athlone to Mullingar is a railway route. Mullingar to Dublin is a canal route. I have travelled Enfield to Dublin and the route is very rough in places with tree roots making the path... More
