the town of Waterford was so-so; we much preferred touring the town of Yougal (nearby and much nicer). The Christ Church cathedral was beautiful and about the only real "site" in Waterford.

The Anglican cathedral was very bare and not very exciting to visit. A few medieval or older artefacts and tombs, but mainly a georgian cathedral. Interesting display of the old catherdral knocked down to enable this one to be built. Would have preferred them to leave the medieval one, frankly.

Entry is free to this magnificent Cathedral that has so much history!! Waterford is the only European City to have it's Catholic and Protestant Cathedral designed by the same man, John Roberts. Lots of fascinating items of historical interest to see in here. You are given a handout with a small piece on each to ensure that you don't miss... More

The title of my review is maybe a slight exaggeration as Reginald's Tower is pretty historic too, but this is the site of the marriage of Aoife, daughter of the king of Leinster, and Strongbow which marked the start of British occupation (initially by invitation) of Ireland. Entry is free, but the modest €1 suggested donation is well worth it,... More
