Brilliant company. I would highly recommend them. The bikes I got for my two boys and myself were good quality Giant bikes in good nick and served us well on our cycle from Waterford City to Kilmacthomas and back again. The most impressive thing though was that we had bitten off more than we could chew in relation to the amount of time we allocated to return back to Waterford City. The shop closes at 5pm in November and it was well after that when I rocked up to the shop, fearing that it would be closed and that I would have to hold onto the bike overnight in our hotel and pay for another days hire but luckily for me, Michael was sitting in the shop waiting for me. He was an absolute gentleman about the whole situation and sent me on my way with a big Waterford smile on his face, much to my relief.

I did not hire bike from the shop but lovely person pump tires of my own bike and gave me directions. Shop is centrally located, very close to car park, short cycle from the starting point of the Greenway.

Great day out on the Greenway. Picked up at the Dungarvan shop, very friendly and informative staff. Bikes were great! We dropped at Coach House Coffee and got the Greenway Bus back. Will be back to see the Waterford side!

The car park is free to visit the green way and there is a safe path /cycleway to get you there . BUT the path has a really steep incline before you reach the level of the old railway line.
Should you be taking your own bikes you might want to consider the old station carpark which has level access to the greenway.

Excellent and helpful from the start to the finish. I picked up my bike in Waterford and cycled the whole route to Dungarvan. The half way point has a great cafe - super food and great service. At the end of the route I did miss the turning for the shop and had to resort to google maps to help me find the shop! When I dropped the bike off, really helpful directions to where the bus stop back to Waterford could be found. There's two different bus services - one charges 12 euros and the other was significantly cheaper (about 5 if I remember correctly!). There were a few buses listed as due to arrive heading towards Waterford and the one I was on only had a few stops and took about an hour to get back. Well worth the trip. I had emailed the Bike Hire in advance re getting back to Waterford, and again they were really helpful to confirm about the buses.

Great day cycling from Dungarvan to Kilmacthomas - lovely interesting route, v well marked. Booked bikes by phone in advance and the lads sorted us all out with decent bikes. V good experience with Waterford Greenway bike hire We stopped at the first coffee stop (only 4k out). For those travelling with children, there's no refreshments stop then until Kilmacthomas so we pushed them that far (ages 14, 12, 10) and dropped the bikes at the depot there. Unfortunately there's no longer any shuttle or reasonably priced transport service back to Dungarvan. We called a local taxi (arrived promptly in 15 mins). We were prepared to pay for the convenience but we were shocked & disappointed to be charged €50 for a 22km journey that took 20 mins (4 people, I cycled back). This was a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely day. This needs to be revisited as part of the overall bike hire offering to visitors to the Waterford Greenway.

Had a unreal day on the greenway , wont get a better place for a cycle where the weather is sunny , Met John in kilmacthomas depot and John could nt of been more helpful , had arranged for the bikes to be minded in dungarvan while we had a tour around and then back to the Grill at the kilmac depot for a top class bit of food .
Have used other bike hire companys on the greenway but wont be going past John from waterford greenway again . Top class customer service .

Good quality bikes, however I would recommend you don't take one of the mountain bikes for the greenway a friend of mine had difficulty with a mountain bike.

Greenway was amazing, great experience absolutely gorgeous but it’s a shame about the shop owner in dungarvan.
We rented two bikes from dungarvan. We were told they close at 6.
We returned the bikes at 1701 but the shop was closed so we rang the number on the door.
No answer
Rang the number on the bike( different number)
No answer
Then a 3rd alternative rang me and I explained we were finished with the bikes, the young lad said no problem leave them outside which we did.
11:30 at night I started to get phone calls off the shops number. I woke up to threatening texts from the owner and accusations that I had robbed the bikes and he was going to the gaurds
I forwarded on the call log, rang him told him it wasn’t true he immediately hung up because he knew he was wrong . No apology no nothing.
Shocking customer service. Between them being closed an hour before they were supposed too, then 3 different numbers and then threats from the owner near to midnight .. Don’t get your bike in dungarvan.

Hi, I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience however, you have the wrong bike hire Company so can you please remove this review. That phone number belongs to John Purcell, Waterford Greenway Bike Hire & Cycle Tours. Thank you.
