Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is not hard to rate this tour as the highlight of our entire 2.5 week trip to Ireland. Our driver, Mark, could not have been more dedicated to helping us see everything we ever dreamed of seeing and more! I decided to splurge on this tour despite being more of a backpacker because I love Neolithic sites (and caves) and this tour had both of them. Not only did I see all the cairns I could ever have dreamed of, I actually got to go in one of the tombs - which is, perhaps, the coolest thing I have ever done.
If you don’t have a car (and even if you do - these roads are narrow!) this is a must in order to truly appreciate what Sligo has to offer and to understand what Yeats was writing about. All accompanied by our driver who was full of enthusiasm and ideas that brought us to many areas we weren’t expected and absolutely loved.

The west of ireland is steeped in history, culture, folklore, music, food, and of course some of the most beautiful scenery the world has to offer (not bias at all)... However, it doesn't have the best public transport infrastructure which makes renting a car or hiring a tour guide to bring you around is really how to make the most of your time here.
This is where Eugene comes in! Eugene is first and foremost an absolute gent. He is passionate about his home and showing people the best of what Sligo and Ireland has to offer. Whether you are a family, group of friends, a hen group, a couple, or business travellers, Eugene can advise on a tour that will be suitable for you. He is laid back, funny and very very reasonable in terms of cost. We have been using Euguenes services for years now and cannot recomend him highly enough.
Enjoy your trip!

Eugene was the best tour guide we've ever had so far! We're only in Ireland for a couple of months and we went on a number of tours and he's the best one we've come across, we're a group of girls and we feel completely content with his company. The views and sites he took us too was completely astonishing, mesmerizing and breath-taking. Book this tour! You won't regret it! <3

We had the pleasure of booking two one-day tours with Sligo Tours. Eugene was our driver for both and he was just wonderful! He picked us up at our hotel at the time we wanted and then drove us around the Sligo area stopping at the castles, abbeys, Neolithic ruins, and sites of natural beauty. Unlike a big bus tour, we were able to experience everything at our own pace never feeling rushed. He has tremendous knowledge of the area and navigates those narrow Irish roads like a pro. We would highly recommend Sligo Tours to anyone visiting the Sligo area.

I 100% recommend Sligo Tours to everyone who visits the west coast of Ireland. Eugene's tour was the highlight of our family trip by far! He showed us so many beautiful sights in Sligo we would not have known about if we had rented a car. Furthermore, he provided fascinating historical commentary to give us a deeper understanding of what we saw. Eugene accommodated our last minute request (we called him the night before) and made adjustments to the tour based on our special request to visit a particular place. This tour FAR exceeded our expectations and was worth every penny. Thank you, Eugene, for showing us beautiful Sligo and making our visit so very memorable!

We traveled with Eugene of Sligo Tours while in the County for a wedding. We booked the Yeats Benbullben Tour. My wife and I agreed that it was one of our favorite days of our trip to Ireland, and I cannot recommend booking with Sligo Tours highly enough.
The booking process was easy, and the website provided plenty of options for tours with different focus areas to meet your interests. We had no trouble finding one that matched what we wanted to see that day. We were pleased that the tour was private - it gave us the opportunity to get to know Eugene and to experience this day of our vacation privately. Eugene picked us up and dropped us off from the front door of our hotel, and we didn’t worry about a thing the rest of the day.
Eugene was exceptionally personable, and we enjoyed hearing his stories and learning about County Sligo from a local. The weather did us no favors the day of our trip, and Eugene was able to make sure we still enjoyed our tour (and we enjoyed every minute of it). When we explained, off handedly during conversation, that we were still looking for Christmas gifts for family back home, he took us to a maker's market at the old airport during the remaining time we had at the end of our tour. We never would have thought to go there or been able to get out there on our own, and we had a lovely time there (and found a few gifts, including one of ourselves that hangs on our living room wall - a memory of our trip and our tour with Eugene).
Eugene is friendly, knowledgeable, and his recommendations for other things to do while in Sligo are spot on. Your time in County Sligo will be immeasurably better for having met him. I strongly encourage you to book with Eugene and Sligo Tours if you are in Sligo.
Aside from the wedding that brought us to Ireland, this was the highlight of our trip, and the most talked about memory when we got home.

For a solo traveler who, up until then, spent most of the time in and around cities—relying on public transportation—-a private tour with Eugene couldn’t have been a better fit. Not only do I feel like I got to see parts of beautiful Sligo I would’ve missed otherwise, Eugene was an accommodating and easygoing host—reminding me that I am welcome to take my time and take photos and that there was no need to rush (and a welcome reminder if ya know me…). I highly recommend booking a tour with Eugene (or hiring a car with him)—instead of sitting around a hostel or on stuck in the back of a giant bus—I actually feel like I saw Ireland through Sligo—be it the coasts, hills, or mountains; all populated by Eugene’s many anecdotes. His considerate and friendly attitude sure went a long way.

I thought that I knew the Sligo region quite well until I spent the day with Eugene our local expert guide. Eugene and his ultra luxurious Mercedes glided effortlessly over deserted single track roads to reveal the most breath-taking scenery of mountains, waterfalls, coves and even a secluded hermitage. The day was cloudy and overcast which somehow seemed to enhance the sense of mysticism of each setting. Eugene, a native local, having been born and bred in the region, displays his depth of knowledge with an easy relaxation that sets the tone of the tour. He regaled us with many local tales and myths. By the end of our tour we knew we had made a friend. We will be back and can't recommend Eugene and Sligo Tours highly enough. A 'must do' activity when visiting this part of the West of Ireland.

Our guide was amazing and friendly and added so much to our tour. We created our own tour but it was basically the The Yeats Benbulben Tour and Slieve League Tour. We also saw Glencar Falls. He educated us on the town of Sligo and its origins and explained each spot in great detail. All of the natural locations were spectacular; At times it reminded me of Hawaii. The castles we toured were beautiful and had written guides inside on each floor. If possible, book in advance of your vacation but we booked the night before and he had no trouble fitting us in. Again, the tour guide himself is amazing so much better than taking the drive yourself. He even took us to additional spots that we did not request in advance because we had time with no extra charge. It is a one man show so if you do not get a response right away, do not worry, he will call you back. We have been on a lot of tours but this one outshines all of them. Thanks Eugene.

I am booked into The Glasshouse, Sligo from arrival 14th to leaving on Friday 18th September 2015.
I should like to use Sligo Tours to cover two days, namely Tues 15th and/or Thurs 17th September to view the sights of west Ireland, some of the Wild Atlantic Way, rural historic scenes of Interest. I have a wide interest in most things including birds and animals. I also should like to paint scenes so I would like to take photographs as I travel along to the places Sligo Tours can take me to. I am a pensioner, able bodied, and would fit in with other passengers on the bus, who are interested in the natural, wild and ancient scenes likewise.
I prefer to take in the scenery as long as there would not be a lot of walking or climbing.
I also would like to be picked up at my hotel, the glasshouse, Sligo and dropped off back there. Any time from morning from about 9.30 to 4.00 to 4.30 all day or a few hours please. Many thanks for now and I await hearing from Gerry, of whom I have read great reports of his hospitality. Jean. Vincent
