Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Last minute trip to Sligo, late to hotel, unpacked, into town 9pm, no googling, got parked, 1st restaurant tried, got in just in time as closing at 10pm but excellent; 1st pub tried Shoot The Crows ..Wow! Excellent! Gteat wee 2nd Jan crowd. Great host / owner, great chat and correctly spotting the non-drinker really would prefer a cup of tea rather than any 0.00 and Zero charge (geddit?)!
Excellent Guinness. Highly recommended.

A proper old Irish pub with live music from a hispanic band who were very good. Whereas a lot of new pubs are trying to look old this is an old pub that looks old with original fixtures and fittings. Prices starting to creep up but I suppose the tourists will be happy to pay for the experience.

Owner seems like a deeply unhappy man. Has a reputation for being ill tempered. It’s a shame as it’s such a quirky space, but safe to say I’ll be avoiding this spot in future.

Nice bar, good atmosphere but no COVID Cert check or tracing numbers and no mask usage. Should observe the regulations for the safety of everyone ☹️

Great pint of Guinness here 9 out of 10. Old Ireland is alive and well here . Friendly staff and great punters singing songs and telling stories about milking cows blindfolded. Top spot

Quick drink in this very interesting old style pub. Full of character, with old furniture and odd corners. Friendly welcome and Covid19 precautions carefully applied. Well worth a visit. Loved it.

During a recent hiking trip to Sligo I dropped in to Shoot the Crows for an evening. This was my local when I attended Sligo IT back in 2003, and it made me happy that this fantastic pub has retained all its charm. It was great to have a few lovely pints of Guinness in what I would consider one of the best pubs in the country. It's a pub full of character, and full of characters! The owner, Ronan, is still the same friendly, witty, interesting man he was 17 years ago, and made my wife and I feel very welcome. It filled me with absolute delight that the choice of music has stayed the same. Expect plenty of Tom Waits, Dave Van Ronk and Rory Gallagher!
Pubs like this are few and far between... unfortunately in my opinion. If you're in Sligo do yourself a favour and give Shoot the Crows a visit, you won't be disappointed!
