What a find, fantastic beach set on the south of Sligo, scenery is amazing from the beach.Great for swimming as depth is very gradual and no suprises.Great for a walk when tide is on the way out.You can actually walk all the way to beach bar from here.Well worth the walk

Lovely peaceful cove that gives you the impression you are on a private beach....you can look across a pretty narrow stretch of water to see the beach bar in Aughris which is just a 5 minute drive along beautiful winding roads...entire area is idyllic

We visited this beautiful beach recently on a blustery day - what a treat! We stayed on the headland and walked up towards the ruins of a very old village that was obviously a hub of activity and life many moons ago. The golden, spotlessly clean sands stretched into a beautiful arc shape, and the emerald green ocean turned to... More

Dunmoran holds a special place in my heart as I've been coming for nearly 50 years of family holidays. From childhood summer picnics to bracing wintry walks it is a magical piece of classic West Coast of Irrland. On a clear day, the stunning mountainous backdrop includes local favourites such as Knocknarea and Benbulben and the more distant peaks of... More

A beautiful beach, with very few people (if any at all). Great place for a walk to The Beach Bar for food and drinks.

I visited Aughris Cliffs last year and spoke to someone who informed me off a deserted village near-by. I was determined to find the village and this year I ended up at Dunmoran Strand but alas I didn't find the village. I had a great stroll on the beach and along the rocks. There is a deserted house overlooking the... More

Dunmoran strand is a beautiful beach nearby Sligo. It is a long beach flanked by dunes. The carpark is right beside the beach which makes it easy to carry your beach gear with you. Right beside the carpark are some rock formations where kids can play in the many rock pools, although sometimes seaweed tends to gather here attracting flies.... More

The two of us were on the strand, when a third person arrived. That was how crowded the beach remained all day. Fantastic!

Great beach for a good walk winter or summer. Easy access, on saying that the topography can change depending on recent storms which can wash either stones or sand up on the walkway down to the beach. You can walk the length of the beach and if you want a longer walk just cross the bridge at the end at... More
