From the main carpark on the east side of the forest I set off for my destination of Collooney. The walk is well sign posted and the little diversion up the wooden steps to Union Rock is well worth it, with fantastic views. I got...More

Fantastic opportunity to explore another part of sligo. Slightly off the beaten track as it's not the easiest to find, but you can gain access from collooney near the gulf petrol station. This forest is also used by a mountain bike club so watch out...More

I stood by the edge of the Lough and recited the poem that I was taught in school many years ago. I felt at peace there.

Old oak woodland as well as commercial forestry, within easy reach of Sligo. Plenty of trails for long or short walks, or for mountain biking. Badly signposted, but it doesn't matter; you can't really get too lost!
