This is a very interesting site in Coolavin. I'm not sure what the previous reviewer meant by it was difficult to get to. Maybe they were in the wrong site. But this well is just off the main Ballaghderren road. It is just at the beginning of a boreen so it is easy to drive right up to. The well has "cure stones" cemented on the top of the wall. They were thought to bring fertility and women would take a stone with them and bring it back when they got pregnant. It also has some interesting carvings, the best of them is of the crucifixion. The well is not maintained so its in a very poor state. But seems to add to the "ancientness" of it.

The whole area of Clogher/Coolavin has some great sites. Just down the road is the Clogher stone fort (one of my favorites). There is never anyone around because you have to hike through a woods that is always soaked to get to it. Recommend wearing some Wellies if you want to get there. Also near is the Four Altars as well as Moygara Castle and some Crannogs on Lough Gara. Definitely worth visiting the area!
