Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful island. Lovely walk around island. Kids love to picnic and explore the island. Very safe place. So peaceful and quiet and full of nature. Could stay all day down at the beach

I went with my friend in July 2021.
We parked the car and texted the number to check when the tide was out. The information received was spot on. We walked over to the Island following the 15 piers and arrived on the island early morning and had breakfast there sitting on the wall. We spent the day, walking, swimming in 2 different areas and enjoying the tranquility. If you are planning this trip bring water and supplies as the pub was closed and there is absolutely nowhere for refreshments. A memorable day.

Walked with a walking group from Strand Hill to Coney Island today.
Weather fabulous ,scenery just beautiful!
Just the experience of walking out when the tide was out and back to shore before the tide came back in was a new experience for me.
Local man took us out in a boat and identfiied the local land marks
Astonished I had never heard of Coney Island before today and hopefully will return there soon

Stunning place hidden off the main road to Strandhill. The view of Benbulbin to one side and Strandhill on the other. Beautiful scenery. Getting out to the island is only possible while the tide is out but make sure to time it spot on as it's common enough to get stuck out there! Bring a decent pair of shoes if you're going out to the island. Well worth visiting.

A great way to get a break with a small group. I spent three days and two nights with Neil Greg and artist who has a studio on Coney Island. It was just glorious, he is a great instructor, patient, teaches by example, he will set up a canvas for himself and his students so you can see how he paints, he will let you know how he 'sees' the landscape in front of him, also great tips on colour mixing.
We stayed in a lovey house not far from his studio and the food was all prepared by Neil, a great cook. So no cooking and no bringing materials, what's not to like.
If you are still nervous about social distancing but want to get away, this break is perfect.

We never made it over to Coney island as the tide times were against us..you can see a few houses on the island from the mainland. If you have the time go there must be so peaceful..

You can only reach this island when the sea has reached low tide. There are 14 big stone markers that lead you through the then (mostly) dry seabed. It is about 2.5 km from the main land to the island, so you can easily walk, or drive with your car. The island has some very fine ruins, and a tiny village with a pub. There are two sandy beaches and a pier. Driving around in your car past the village us not advisable, because the roads are in a horrific condition, and they are also extremely small. But that makes this place so intensely serene. Spend an hour or two, but don't forget that you have to head back before the tide comes in - or you are stuck there for the next six hours.

You have to check the tide!
I don't trust the water. So I was happy to be on a horse on my way to Coney Island ;)
