Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful place but ruined by shooting range in the middle of the walk. Upset my dogs and my friends, noise was unbearable. How is that allowed in a major tourist destination??

What a monolith! You can’t help but being amazed at Benbulb which dominates the county and the little villages and towns that rests under its shadow.

We did the forest walk along Benbulben and it was fabulous. There are several options in terms of routes - we took the medium length one - ranging from an hour to 1.5 hours or so. The walk takes you along the mountain, which is quite impressive and photogenic, then into a pretty forested area. Some nice views along the way, plus opportunity to see wildlife.

This is a very easy walk, suitable for anyone, and a nice way to get away from it all for a while in peaceful, picturesque surroundings.

Spectacular views of Benbulben that are taken in on a fairly easy trail. There are some changes in elevation that can pose a challenge for walkers who are not used to a bit of a climb. Unfortunately, our visit yesterday was tainted by clouds of flying ants that landed all over us throughout the walk, making it impossible to stop and enjoy the scenery. We spent much of the time trying to swat them away and off of our clothes.

If you drive by in a car, stop by for a picture or two. This mountain looks interesting, but it's not the biggest wow thing in my life.

I would give myself 1.5 to 2 hours to walk the 5.5 km. (It felt longer!) I was so slow that it took me over 2 hours. However, it is a beautiful walk. There are stunning views of Benbulben and of the coastal areas. It is not a strenuous walk but it is lovely just walking and clearing one's mind or playing your favourite music. All I would advise anybody is to get where they parked correct as there is an upper and a lower car park and there is a good distance inbetween. This is definitely one of the best walks I have ever done and highly recommended for anything who loves a relaxing walk with stunning views. Also thankfully the weather was nice when I was there. I could not imagine going around when it started raining!

I visited back in May 2022. It was an easy, short, very scenic 5.5km walk and definitely worth it. Weather was pretty crazy & alternating between sunny and rainy every 5 minutes.

Hiking Benbulben was something we wanted to do during our Ireland stay. It was worth the time and effort. If you are planning to hike to the top, I would recommend staying at the Benbulben Farmhouse B&B as they have private access to the mountain right from their location. It was an affordable accommodation with great breakfast. The views from the top are stunning - even on a cloudy day. Your shoes and socks will most likely be soaked by the time you are done, so plan accordingly. It took us about 3 hours to go up and back down. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the top though.

We completed this hike today and it was enjoyable with great views at the top.

Starting point: We put Luke’s bridge in to google maps and it took us right there, it can accommodate 10-12 cars easily although there was more.

Tips for hike up:
- You start off on a stoney path and about 0.5km you come to a small bridge on your right side, cross it and then continue walking straight.
- Continue on this path then it eventually ends, but you will see tracks of where to walk( we ventured off the track and headed for the gully on the side of the mountain *mistake* follow tracks and there is areas you can cross the streams. We wasted 20 minutes going through bog trying to climb the mountain.
-Once you get to the gulley, climb the LEFT hand side and there is a track the whole way to the top.

Time: 3 hours up and down. We stopped for a snack at the top and took in the views.

We never walked along the whole table top of the mountain which you can do.

Difficulty: Moderate. Definitely would recommend some experience in hiking before trying this as it is quite steep. On the way down we kept slipping and noticed others had the same issue.

Correct footwear is essential as trainers will be destroyed.
