Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A local farmer told me that he thought this was the most photographed mountain in Ireland. As I went daft with my camera on the way round I can well believe it. Every angle from ground level is fascinating and on my next visit I hope to do the walk up.

The South face of the mountain is often photographed. But is you want an up close and nicer (in my opinion) view, take the Bunbulben Forest walk to see the North Face up close - with all the eroded fluted gullies extending down from the top

Usually when you look at a mountains you want to summit it. For benbulben, it's just as nice viewing it from the base showing off its cliff face taking in the wild wind from the atlantic.

The forest walk has a few routes, we took the long red one. Very nice 5.5km loop.

We did the forest walk which runs at the base of beautiful Benbulben. At one stage, the path turns from the mountain and gives a great view out to the Atlantic. There are a few different walk distances. Lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

Went touring the falls and hiking walking around Sligo, went up to see Queen Maves grave. It was a fantastic October day with clear views all the was into Donegal and Letrim. Free parking and about a 20 min walk up a moderate hill… it’s Ireland so a wise man always Carrie’s his coat

It was a shame that we didn't have chance to stay a bit longer. We were not prepared enough for the weather. We definitely will go back there in next summer.

This is such a must see when in Sligo and I was not disappointed . Didn't have time to climb but got to take some lovely photographs. Also seen it from Yeats grave as was his final request. Spectacular sight.

We completed the Benbulben Forest walk and while initially we tought we were going to go up the mountain, we quickly discovered this was 'just' a forest walk. Beautiful views and lovely 6+km walk and overall great day. We will have to plan better to get to the top next time, Sligo has so much to offer this will be the first of many trips to the county, loved it.

The GPS took us directly to Lucks bridge and parked on the small space available. It can only accommodate around 8 cars. We walked up the road to the second smaller bridge where the road becomes a dirt track. There is no signage to tell you which track to take for the hike up the gully side so we took the straight track until it ends and then continued over the bog tracks. The soft boggy part is short so find the best way around it. The track on the left side of the gully will be visible and it’s a moderate gradual climb up. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the view as you go along. And the sheep along the way. Once you reach the top, you can continue to the other end for more spectacular views. Look out for holes and dips and it can be very windy in some parts. The walk along the top will take around 30 minutes. You will get wonderful views of Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo. Highly recommended. No bathroom facilities available.
