Nice spot for relaxing, walking your pet and meeting friends for daily exercise. Nice views. But do wear comfy shoes n really warm clothes as it can be very windy and definitely cold

We followed the signs marked "Tara," rather than our GPS, arriving at sunset. The only others there were locals walking their dogs - less than a dozen people, so we got really good photos. You can see all around for miles, and whilst it's fairly windy, it's worth it. Spent maybe 20 or 30 minutes there. The sky was split... More

Saw the Hill of Tara on a brochure and decided to go as it looked impressive. I must say the photos tend to look better then the actual site because they are all aerial photos. On ground level you do not see the same detail. Its still impressive to see and a good spot for a picnic and taking your... More

Took my aunt and grandad for breakfast, servings were fabulous, bread was delicious, tea was tasty, coffee was perfect and the lemon drizzle was nice and thick and tart! Well priced, well worth it and the scenery is breathtaking!

I am a big fan of Irish history, especially the mythological history and where that intersects with reality. It has always been a desire to visit the Hill of Tara and I was delighted to get to do so. My friends (a Brit and an American) didn't appreciate this place as much as NewGrange, which we visited on the same... More

You do need a good guide who can help you make sense of this field full of history. Don't miss the lovely second hand book shop , it is owned by the scholar who wrote the book on Tara.

The Hill of Tara brings many people for many reasons. Reflection, history, the view from the hill. Spend some time here thinking about the kings of Ireland and all the history below your feet. I had a picnic at sunset overlooking the land below and it was wonderful. Be sure to check out the little book shop too.

Unfortunately, our visit was marred by constant misty rain driven by a chilling wind. There is no protection from the elements on this site, so choose your day carefully. There is not much to see other than markings of where structures may have been and locked up burial mounds. I am lead to believe that the views of the surrounding... More

Beautiful vistas and fascinating burial mounds. St Patrick Monument and Stone of Destiny on a strange, undulating landscape. Great photo ops. Also, lovely church and cemetery adjacent. Wear comfortable shoes as walking to the mounds and monuments on rolling grass landscape may be slippery/wet.
