Did Newport to Achill return (approx 68 km). Great amenity / stunning views & well organised by the bike shuttle company which took us from Westport to Newport to start.

Great place to cycle. We went from Achill to Mulranny. Fabulous views and great to be out in nature. We finished up at the hotel and had lovely soup and scones. Strong head wind though, but on our backs on the return journey. TIP. Surface is quarry dust and treaded tyres are better; I got a puncture in my slick... More

Nice safe cycle of moderate challenge in places but most easy. Got up close with lots of sheep and cows .Some of the scenery near Malranny is stunning .Love all the wild flowers en route and the blackberries were ready to be picked. The weather was not kind as we neared Achill, but the joy of the deal is that we... You don't need to be an avid cyclist to really enjoy this cycle track. Stunning scenery and a well made track with good stops for food on the way. We went from Achill to Newport. Newport town is the only part of the route on the road and I suggest children walk this part as the road is busy.

My husband & I were in the mood for a nice long walk but didn't fancy the noise & danger of traffic as we did so. We decided to do a walk along the great western greenway . You couldn't get a safer place to walk . It's perfect for families with young children too because there is no danger... More

a really lovely afternoon spent cycling to Westport from Newport. We are not experienced at all and really enjoyed it - apart from some steeper parts which we walked up!! nice scenery, quiet path, lovely way to spend an hour or two!

The Greenway is a very popular cycling route, and deservedly so as the tarmac is laid over an old railway line, and the gradients are therefore very gentle. My wife seemed to be the only one walking, but enjoyed her ramble.

It was with high hopes Madame and I left Westport behind on a Wednesday in early September. We expected, given the end of the tourist season and the opening of the schools, that we would have the Greenway much to ourselves. On the contrary, for the first half of our spin was on a heavily trafficked and very fragmented Greenway... More

The scenery on this greenway is stupendous. It's an easy track to cycle on and has many interesting features. It can be cycled in one day but can also be split into three obvious sections. Cycle hire is easy and reasonably priced, and it's even possible to deposit your hire bike at several drop-off points or be picked up by... More
