We hired bikes from Westport bikes and were driven to Achill to start our cycle back to Westport. The staff and service was excellent and we had a great day. The Greenway is a 42km cycle one way and has beautiful scenery from the Achill to Newport section.

Back to nature, moving, but for for the most part away from traffic - just lovely. Get away from everything (except the weather...!); we had a perfect day and suspect that you need a good day to really enjoy this. We walked but we'll be back to try it on a bike...

Although there are a few hills to contend with, it is still a very pleasant ride through the Irish countryside. You can rent bikes at the beginning of the trail, at clew bay bikes

The sun was out, sky blue. We were in Ireland so took some local advice to 'always have the wind at our backs.' We got dropped off in Mulranny, rode a scenic 18km to Newport, lunched, then took a leisurely 11km to get to Westport. Some hills and tricky corners, lots of sheep, a few friendly cows in pretty scenery.... More

We travelled the full route -42k Westport to Achill with 11 & 14 yr olds with above average fitness. I was really impressed with the overall quality of the route, well planned, good quality surface, high end engineered bridges integrated with old train lines. There is also ongoing development of the greenway. The route can be tackled in in any... More

Bike rental is not cheap on the Western Greenway. However they do provide helmets and carriers for small kids and promised to come and get us if we got stuck. I realised once I started that I had not been on a bike in 8 years and just after that found that riding a bike is not just like riding... More

We decided to tackle the route from Achill to Westport and this seemed like the best way for us. The views on the Achill to Mulranny section are the best the Greenway has to offer, so we could enjoy them before we got too tired by the end. We had rough weather for this cycle but it's still laid out... More

We cycled from Newport to Keel(45km) on this beautiful scenery track. From Achill Sound the greenway stopped and have to use the road where cars can be speeding, be cautious saw two sheep lying dead beside road. We loved the track and as we stopped few places for coffee and lunch bumped in other groups, everyone so friendly all along.... More

Rent a bike from Clew Bay bike rental in Westport and take a long wonderful bike ride to or from Westport to Aachil. It's 42 kilometre each way, scenic views, safe biking, plenty of great places to stop to eat or just look. The whole ride is divided into three sections and you can be picked up at the end... More

Did Newport to Achill return (approx 68 km). Great amenity / stunning views & well organised by the bike shuttle company which took us from Westport to Newport to start.
