Definitely great trail for bikers. Not convinced having walked its entire length its great for hiking. Need to think about places to stop and eat drink etc as these are v few on the trail outside of the towns. So Westport or Achill load up - mulranney and newport provide limited opportunities at present - otherwise enjoy the views even... More

The early part of the cycle from Westport to Newport had a lot of roads to cross over - just to be aware of this in case you are cycling with young children.

I was a bit anxious about heading off on "the bike" as it was several years since I sat on one. The cycle from Newport to Mullany and back was not as strenuous as I anticipated. The main thing is not to rush and hop on and off the bike at regular intervals to take in the stunning sea and... More

Great walk. 12.56km there in 2hours. Had soup and sandwich in Newport and walked back. Just over 25km in total and took exactly 4hrs. The walk is largely alongside the main road but at one stage it veers off and goes through and wonderfully scenic area. Highly recommended.

If in Westport do not miss. Despite being 70 my wife and I hired two bikes from Westport Bikes 4 Hire who ferried us to Achill from where we cycled back to Westport. The scenery was amazing and the Greenway is practically offroad the whole way. Stops can be made at Newport and Mulranny for coffee or lunch. Allow four... More

My wife booked cycle hire for the Saturday of our weekend trip to Westport. I am 51 and had only ever once been on a bike before. I was therefore a little nervous about the thought of a 32 K cycle from Achill to Newport. We were lucky to have a sunny, bright, January morning with unfortunately a light head... More

Cycled from Newport to Mulranny with a group of friends. The bus back is a great service especially for inexperienced cyclists like myself!!! Lovely stops on the way for food and coffee... it was a clear day when we done the cycle and the views were beautiful!!! Definitely worth doing if around the area

Great to walk or cycle. No traffic, specifically for bikes or walkers. Portaloo's along the route. So lucky to have this facility near by.

Thank Anne G
