About
The Pirate Adventure Park is the ideal family day out for kids under 12 with rides, slides, boats and trains to entertain - all set out doors on the stunning setting of the historic Westport House estate. Named after the famous Pirate Queen of Connacht - Grace O'Malley - who once lived on this very site and was a 16th century ancestor of the owners of the house too. Splash out at the Pirate Adventure Park with the Cannonball Run Slide, the Pirate Queen Swinging Ship and the thrills and spills of the Pirates Plunge log flume ride. Wind down on the Swan Pedal boats. Climb aboard the Westport House Express around the lake. Ride the Jump Around, Mini Ferris Wheel and Kiddie Zipwire. Test your balance in the Vortex Tunnel. Give our games a while - Pan for Gem Stones & Hook a Duck. Make time for a visit to Tiny Town and the playground at Gracy's Pizzeria. Get the whole family in on a game of Disc Golf. Swash-buckling fun awaits!

We had a fabulous day at Pirates Adventure Park today. All the young staff were so helpful and friendly and a special thanks to Gemma who went above and beyond for us. Food was amazing at Gracey's also. Looking forward to our next visit already.

It is a total rip off to ask adult to pay for the fun park. Kids have fun, sort of, if you are lucky the water ride is not broken like it was for us, and that you do not have to queue for everything else. Also for the amount we pay, it is a shame then to have attractions not included.
stay on the ground and enjoy the nice walk, stay away from the fun park.

Today we picked up our season membership pass for The Pirate Adventure Park. I have two boys 5 & 7 and they were delighted to be back at the park. All staff were very welcoming and kind. One staff member Kevin that was working at the Mini Ferris Wheel was so kind, caring and patient when it came to going on the Ferris wheel and of course one of the boys only wanted to go on one particular coloured carriage. Kevin delt with the request in a very friendly and courteous manner and still kept everything moving whilst dealing with a determined 5 year olds request. Well done and keep up the good work Kevin. We will be back on a regular basis with our pass, the boys love going there.

Overpriced and underwhelming
Totally over priced. We went with 3 children and 3 adults. The children are 5, 8 and 10. The slippery slide is gone which they loved and it has been replaced by a very unsatisfactory climbing wall. The children had to queue for an hour to get a 10 minute go on the wall.
I don’t understand the height restrictions. The 5 year old was only able to go on one of the rides that’s not for tiny babies. He couldn’t go on the flume ride which seems ridiculous as he’s allowed on that in every other park we have been to.
Not enough rides for kids- the older kids only had 2 rides to interest them. The other 2 rides are extremely babyish. For €110 it was extremely poor value for money. It’s crazy that adults are charged such a high admission fee.
The swans and train are fine for younger kids but our kids had no interest in them. Again, the queues were very long for them.
It was a very unsatisfactory day out as I’m not sure what age it’s trying to target. The 8 and 10 year old have outgrown it, but the 5 year old could only go on one ride other than the babyish ones. A lot more rides are needed to eliminate the hour long queues for most things and to justify the extortionate price being charged.

Priced as €25 per adult and €20 per child or €70 for family of 2a2c, is a complete rip off. Adults should not have to pay at all. It's a VERY small park with 4 "rides" to go on and maybe 7 other activities that kids can do 2 of which you have to pay extra for on top of €70. Kids enjoyed it, absolutely but the high entrance cost left a bad taste in our mouths.

I rarely leave reviews but felt so hard done by I felt I should. This place is a complete rip off for families. We paid €70 into the pirate adventure park. When we walked in I couldn’t quite believe my eyes. It was terrible. Only a handful of little rides and the queues were ridiculous. We queued at least 50 minutes for 6 minutes on the climbing wall. I asked my 8year old what she thought she said I just wish it was like what it said it was like in the leaflet. We were the first to arrive out of a big group. I told the rest not to come in. I was disappointed. The kids were disappointed. The grounds around it are beautiful and free. Stick to the free stuff it much nicer.

Overall we enjoyed it, the staff were nice and the place is well kept. It was a bit too expensive for what you get. The que to climb the wall was a bit much, I didn't time it but it was surely 45 mins minimum. To pay extra to do a couple of games after paying so much already was annoying.
Kids had fun and that's all that matters. Fine for younger kids, I'm not sure the older ones would enjoy it.

We had a lovely time it’s a beautiful place great day out, but they are having a laugh with the price it’s a complete rip off my daughter is 6 went on a few rides we went on with her as she is an only child but adults should not have to pay it’s a complete rip off. The staff are lovely the train driver is so nice. Paying extra for the games is a joke after paying 70 to go in I’ve been to a lot of theme parks and carnivals and compared to them it’s an absolute rip off. And if u are going with older kids don’t there are 2 rides that would interest them.

Is the pirate adventure park good value for kids of 9 & 6 yrs old?
WestportHouse
Ireland9 contributions
Hi there - the children seem to be the ideal age to go on most of the rides. We do have height restrictions on some rides (manufacturers guidelines for health & safety) that we suggest you check out on our website as it can be disappointing to find out they aren't tall enough. You can find this and other top tips on the Pirate Adventure Park page on our website (I'm afraid I can't provide a link to this through this forum).
Hope this helps. We look forward to welcoming you.

Our two boys ages 5 yrs and 7 yrs had a complete ball . They wanted to try out all the rides and did daily as we were there for a week . The lady in the chip van was so nice as were all the staff . The hook a duck was great fun and my eldest boy was so excited to have real gems after panning for them

Westport house has great website with detailed info on height restrictions for each activity. Google their website and it will help you to decide if it's worth visiting. My kids are older but we saw lots of families with younger children there. The area itself is beautiful with lots of walkways, there is bouncy castle, pirates playground and pirates den for younger kids. I think karting and house express also would suit your children. but as I said the area itself is just beautiful to walk around and their website is very detailed and informative about each activity.

Does the entrance cost cover the fairground rides or are there separate charges for these?
Helen M
Ennis, Ireland12 contributions
The only things the entrance fee covers are the swan paddles , the short train ride , the log plume , the pirate swing, a swing ,slide and bouncy castle , and the house . The pirate swing and bouncy castle were out of order . Everything else is extra €3 per person, the bumper cars, carousel , ferris wheel and games (ie 3 tries to win a prize ) The archery and zip line was €12 per adult €10 per child extra . If you have children over the age of 5 very little for them ...

Pretty sure you cannot light fire but BBQ facilities available. No bike rental on site but lots of opportunity to rent bikes in Westport town
