Impressive statue at start of Croagh Patrick trail.

Great views over Clew Bay from top of mountain and small church on top worth a visit. It can get very windy at times. Climb takes about 2 hrs.

This statue of Ireland's patron saint stands atop a tall plinth in Westport's town square, the Octagon. The statue itself is a little hard to appreciate since it is so high off the ground. Nonetheless, it is a Westport landmark and virtually impossible to miss if one visits the town.

We went to the Nualas concert and were pleased to find there was a bar on the upper level. A glass of wine and the view of the octagon lit at night and the new statue beyond was very special.

We were in Westport for five days last week and wish it could have been longer. We loved walking around the quaint, impeccably clean town with St. Patrick's statue right in the center. It seems that no matter where you travel in town you will pass St. Patrick many times a day and having him there gives a sense of... More

Visited Croag Patrick last week on a good clear day. Trekked as far as the statue plus a little higher for an absolutely stunning view of Clew Bay. Well worth the effort.

This is on the way and before the trail gets rocky and slippy so anyone could visit this without worry and the trail.

Not really. St. Patrick is the patron Saint of the Irish. He is revered and respected. His burial site if a popular tourist attraction for locals and others from other countries. This monument is in the center of Westport and set on the Octagon where all must pass it. St. Patrick stands tall with a lamb and a snake around... More

Why review a statue, but it is not any old statue, it is statuesque right in the middle of Westport. At first I thought it was of some fallen war hero of ancient times only to see it was St Patrick. The sculpture is enormous and a great meeting point as some of our friends were meeting us and coming... More

Great bars and restaurants in The Octagon plus theatre in town hall. Worth visiting of one of the shows on there. We Saw Grace O'Malley, Ireland's pirates queen

The monument to St. Patrick the Shepard is an imposing feature in central Westport. Located on the Octagon it is one of a number of focal points particularly for walking groups and other non aligned visitors.
