I live in Drogheda and everyday I pass Magdalene Tower and it's structure never ceases to amaze me. The different lighting shows it up beautifully. If in Drogheda it is worth seeing

Magnificent in the heart of Drogheda town. Locals look in in awe because this tower has withstood the taste of time

Not sure what the description of attraction is about, its a gate, you peep in and thats it, not sure what entertainment can possibly be gleaned from this experience

Must see
Jan 2019 • Couples
If you are interested in history, you have to visit it and it's free. The tower was built in the 14th century. Shakespeare visited here in 1842. In 1412 Father Bennett it's abbot brought peace to Drogheda by uniting both sides of the Boyne. I assume the building was named after Saint Mary Magdelene, who was a Jewish women, she followed Jesus and witnessed his crucifixion, burial and resurrection. It looks like she came from a town called Magdala, a western fishing town of the sea of Galilee. So please visit this great site in Drogheda and appreciate some of the great attractions in the famous city of Drogheda.

Good for a Quick Glance

This is a very small area that you can just peak in at the tower. It is surrounded by a fence so nothing you can get close to or "explore"

Great photo but like everyone else it is locked. If you like this sort of thing go and visit will only take 5mins but not if it isnt on your way. Interesting little tower in the town.

Not accessible
Jul 2018 • Couples
We were visiting Drogheda for the day and went walking to see the town. This is an impressive old tower in the older part of town but we had little information and could not get access to it. It is worth photographing but I wish I could get nearer and know a lot more about it. Does Drogheda have a tourist/visitors office?

We stopped here to visit. Walked as close as we could, but the gates were locked. Took some pictures and left.

Each to their own but for me this bit of architecture didn't do much for me. Nothing wrong with it just not inspiring for my taste.
