St Peter's is located at the very heart of Drogheda town centre. Definitely worth visiting even if you're not a religious person as there is a lot of history here and entry is free. It's claim to fame is that St Oliver Plunkett's head is on display beside the alter. There is a small but interesting exhibit next to the... More

This historic church is worth a visit. Beautiful stained glass, impressive organ and interesting relics. Most notably, of course, is the preserved head of Oliver Plunkett in a glass case. You don't see that kind of thing every day!

I'm not religious but that did not stop me from enjoying my visit here, the history about Oliver Plunkett was very interesting and the Gothic architecture is beautiful, it's worth a visit.

Fascinating to see and not half as gruesome as I had expected. It's a shame there isn't more of Oliver Plunkett's story on display in the church. I recommend you read about it prior to visiting.

The biggest church in town, with the relic head of St. Oliver Plunkett on exhibit with the story of how he was hung, drawn and quartered.

The head of Saint Oliver Plunkett is on display here. Rather than being gruesome it was facinating. In the middle of Drogheda is an oasis of calm. You will also find a relic of the True Cross of Christ. I didn't know that before visiting and that added to the visit. Love the old seating, traditional floors and real candles... More
