About
A beautiful and unique place to visit for those with a love of art or history. The gallery is sited in the former Drogheda Franciscan Church and part of the Friary; known locally as the ‘High Lane Church’. The Franciscans gifted the property to the people of Drogheda when they ended their 760 year association with the town in 2000. The buildings date from the early 19th century, though elements date back to earlier times.

We really enjoyed to see how skillful are those kids under the age of 14. Great paintings.
In the other hand private art collection by Raphael Hynes was good but we liked most Carey Clarke, brilliant canvas oil landscapes paintings. Thanks to Highlands Gallery for the chance to visit the exhibition.

Nice Gallery with interesting paintings and history of Drogheda. It is often used for a music venue to with the original Alter as a stage. It also leads into a nice cafe that features one of the Church walls as one of the walls of the Cafe.

Formerly a church this is a great space with a range of art work and shows and a must visit. There is an interesting and challenging lighting system.

This gallery space is so calming and quiet that when you go to see any of the exhibitions you will be very happy to sit and linger as you take in the art. The building was a Church a few years ago and I find it a most beautiful building with original features all around.

Not too much to say about this one as they where just in transition between two shows however the area we where allowed into was very nice and we where able to admire everything that it had to offer. Might I recommend looking into what is showing before you go. Other than that very nice.

This gallery is in the body of an old church - it is a beautiful redesign full of light and preserving many lovely features of the building. I saw an excellent exhibition of photographs, beautifully curated. A very amiable guide was available to discuss it with visitors and there was a beautiful book about it.
I was really blown away by the space. Upstairs on the open mezzanine there was an exhibition of the Texaco Children's Art Competition. All I need now is another excuse to visit Drogheda so I can go to the Highlanes again.

This place really is a hidden gem. The historical paintings of Drogheda are fascinating, and I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition downstairs, which runs until 1st September. I cannot praise the staff there highly enough. If you have any interest in art or local history I would thoroughly reccommend a visit here.
