About
As the fee includes a personally guided tour and refreshments in the pagoda beside the Water Garden, entrance is, naturally, by advance booking only. Coolwater, on half an acre, steps to the beat of a different drum with its breathtaking Water Garden, troughs chockerblock with choice Alpine plants and distinctively styled West Garden: don't expect lawns and borders in this garden! Overlooked on one side by Skule Hill and on the other by Rockstown Castle, it has been designed for year round structure and shape. The ponds in the West garden together with the large one in the Water Garden have also encouraged a superabundance of aquatic wildlife. Note! Advance booking only.

Lovely interesting afternoon out
Jun 2021 • Couples
Beautiful garden, very interesting and ingenious gardening ideas. Wide range of plants from all over the world. Great layout and all aspects of the garden meld beautifully to create a stunning, calm, tranquil garden that will make you want to visit again. Kevin & Claire are really lovely inviting, funny and knowledgeable. If you want a lovely day out be sure to book a time slot here! Oh and the refreshments and port are a welcome touch too! It was so interesting we actually forgot to take photos.

Exotic plants with knowledge
May 2021 • Friends
What a excellence garden with so many exotic plants. All labels are easy to read. The ponds are beautiful and well planted. Most of all the guided tour was packed with knowledge and tips on every plant with as many questions as we wished to ask. We were made most welcome by all the family and we had as much time as we wished. This garden is not to be missed, the weather was dreadful but it was no problem to Kevin to keep going

Fantastic gardens and ponds.
May 2021
Located about 20 minutes from Limerick city, I had a really nice afternoon visiting the gardens and ponds of Coolwater Gardens on 10/5/21. Kevin provided an easy, meandering tour & his knowledge of the plants' names is exceptional and not at all high-falutin. His large workshop at the end of the garden houses a sporty 1960s Austin Healey car.

We rounded off visit with a coffee & biscuits in one of the cosy gazebos. It was all very relaxing and I was pleasantly tired after the visit.

Thank you.

A superb experience!
Apr 2021 • Family
What a way to spend an afternoon! Having had an exceptional tour of the garden with the very knowledgeable and entertaining proprietor Kevin Begley, we were treated to wonderful tea and cake on the patio overlooking the superb pond! The sun shone, and it's such a relaxing place to visit, we never felt pressure to leave, and were encouraged to take as many photos and garner as many ideas as possible! Kevin's passion for his garden is infectious and inspirational, I certainly left with a renewed sense of interest in my own garden, and will definitely be including some alpine plants in the future! Looking forward to my next visit, Thank you again! Moss.

My favourite part of the garden is the pond out the back. So many lovely plants around it. I also love the way every plant is labelled and everything is so organised.

A spectacular sunny Saturday
Sep 2020 • Family
We visited Coolwater Gardens yesterday having passed by a number of times. We were intrigued as to the variety of plant life behind the gates without being aware of the wonderful hospitality, friendliness and encyclopedic knowledge that awaits us. Kevin had our small group of 4 (ranging in age from 5 to over 65) awestruck from our introductions. He shared his knowledge of his garden and surrounding areas along with his many stories and anecdotes with such passion and personality. The variety of life in the garden isn't limited to plants. We could have spend all afternoon peering into the ponds at the various visitors and residents which inhabit them.
Kevin and Claire's generosity of time and information along with the wonderful refreshments and hospitality left us not only with minds full of wonder and amazement at the flora and fauna we encountered but also hearts full of calm and happiness having spent such a relaxing 2 and a half hours in what can only be described as a little piece of heaven.

True Gem must see garden look forward to returning
Aug 2020
Many thanks to Kevin who gave us a personal tour of Coolwater Garden recently. This garden is certainly a little hidden gem located near Fedamore Co Limerick From the moment we arrived we were intrigued by the landscape, and rare and unusual plants from all over the world which are all carefully labelled which makes it all the more interesting as you tour the garden. Kevin passion and knowledge also attention to every detail of this little gem is amazing. His use of stone and slate from the Burren in Co Clare which he has placed all around the garden which is another feature of this wonderful place. The large Pond is also another highlight beautiful lilies fill the pond also a floating pagoda. The end of the tour we enjoyed some refreshments in the cosy snug located at the end of the garden.

Visit to Coolwater Garden
Aug 2020
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday on a tour of Kevin Begley's fabulous garden. The garden includes a range of exotic trees, an enormous waterlily filled pond and a dry, arid outdoor section with cactus and agave plants. The bit that stole my heart however was the vast array of pots and containers with hundreds of sedums and saxifrages all squashed onto tiny cliff edges and steep rock outcrops. Heaven in miniature! And a big thanks for the cup of tea, other refreshments and conversation about all things gardening in the pagoda with Jacinta and Brian.
