    A gardeners garden.
A truly insightful and educational place to visit. If you like gardening this wonderful and unusual garden is a must stop. Kevin the owner gives up his free time to give you the most entertaining but insightful tour. There are wow moments around every corner until you reach the spectacular pond which will blow your mind. If I could give this garden more than 5 stars I would. Thank you Kevin and Claire for an amazing afternoon.
Thank you Barbara for your lovely review. It was a real delight to show a professional gardener around Coolwater.

Well worth the stop, extremely nice private garden tour.
Kevin and Claire have made the nicest private garden I’ve ever seen. My wife and I plus a friend stopped by after calling ahead, luckily someone dropped out to free up space for our tour. Make sure to call a day in advance as our day-of trip was luck of the draw. A half-acre of meticulously thought out plantings from edge to edge with rare and exciting varieties of all sorts, from all over the globe. I was very surprised to see so many types of plants thriving here. We are by no means garden experts and Kevin walked us around and told us of his plants in an enjoyable laymen’s way. I could’ve stayed an extra hour or so talking away but sadly had to cap our adventure to around two hours. At the end of the garden tour, we all sat and enjoyed cookies (biscuits) and a tea, with an option to enjoy a tipple of Port.
Thank you very much, Luke for a very well written review. Hope you enjoy the rest of your whirlwind holiday and arrive safely back in Ohio..

A truly amazing garden, which was full of surprises
Kevin has created this work of art over a period of 12 years. His achievements are truely amazing. The sheer number and variety of plants that have been sourced from almost every corner of the planet and then given special care to ensure that they thrive in the new location. His success in growing cactus and other succulents is testament to his skills as a horticulturist. An unreal feat in Ireland of all places. The labelling of all of the plants from the smallest to the largest and his detailed knowledge of each one is quite incredible. We took several photos of the plants with a view to sourcing them for our garden back home in Australia. Thank you to Kevin and Claire for a wonderful three hours that was topped off with tea, chocolate biscuits and a shot of port
Thank you Larry and Neridah for that review. I was stunned by your journey past Oman, to Petra, The Valley of the Kings, Malta, España, onwards to Ireland. It was great to meet you and I hope you have a great holiday in total. Thanks for visiting us.

    A hidden treasure
This unique garden is truly spectacular. But what raises it even more is the fantastic guided tour provided by Kevin, who has so much information on the individual plants. His enthusiasm is infectious. We visited on a very wet day and it was still amazing. Sitting in the pagoda looking out on the rain falling on the pond enjoying tea and biscuits was lovely and the sun tried to come out for some of the tour. Would highly recommend. 5 🌟
Thank you, Anne, for your lovely review. Nice to take your mother and friend around as well.

Really interesting and detailed tour. Amazing site. Came away with lots of ideas. Particularly enjoyed the pond and greenhouse. Would recommend and you don’t need to be a garden enthusiast to appreciate the work that has gone into the garden.
Thank you, Mary, for your lovely review. You two were very brave to venture around in the monsoon yesterday.

    Simply amazing
We had the most fantastic time at Coolwater Garden. Kevin (the owner) is the most charming and knowledgable man. What he has created is truly splendid. It is the most exquisite garden with beautiful planting, a lovely flowing design with many pieces of art, a beautiful alpine house and a viewing point. The tour was finished with refreshments overlooking the pond. You will not be disappointed and we look forward to our next visit to see them gem in a different season.
Thank you for your very lovely review and you are very welcome to call again.

Excellent host with in-depth knowledge of high and low. Pro tip: ask many questions! There are centimetre high plants to red listed (planted years ago). Well worth the visit. Full two hours.

A wonderful experience not to be missed!
What a wonderful experience seeing this beautiful garden and lake with such great variety of plants, trees, succulents and stone/rock so artistically placed by a very creative master. The hosts were so welcoming giving of knowledge, coffee break and Port ( for those not driving). A unique experience. It is in the calendar to see again in Spring and Summer.
Thank you Mary for your lovely review. Glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing you again next year.

What a gem of a garden. For Alpine enthiasts, it is an absolute must to visit this garden. The owner Kevin definitely knows his plants. Booking essential, but so worth it. Kevin and his garden knock the spots off the RHS in the UK. There is a fabulous pond in the back, with yet more lovely alpines and in incredible alpine house. I am soooooo envious of his space and knowledge.
Thankyou

I visited this garden with my partner and can confidently say coolwater gardens is one of the most beautiful little ecosystems I've ever seen with my own two eyes. the owners brought us around and taught us all about the different plants they have, where they came from and how they respond to the Irish enviorment. we don't know anything about plants- but questions were encouraged! absolutely stunning spot to spend a few hours. our tour was ended with refreshments and chats in the heart of the garden. 10/10, hope to visit again.
lots of love,
-Alan and Li

Coolwater Garden is like nowhere else for a glorious, gorgeous garden. It has such a huge selection of rare and exotic plants - big and small - that it would take you multiple trips to really see what's on display. It is just.. stunning. Some of the teeny-tiny plants are so rare, they can't be located elsewhere but thrive in this garden.

It's June, middle of a cold-n-wet summer here in Ireland. Plants are late blooming this year so I can only imagine as more plants bloom and blossom how beautiful it will be.

Definitely one of the best gardens in Ireland and definitely, the rarest species and collections I didn't know existed. Fab visit.

Kevin & Clare were charming, kind and more than informative - had stories and histories for a lot of the plants so a lot of plants really came to life.

The garden is a joy,an absolute celebration of life and what it means to create a living work of art.Plants from all around the world living and growing together in the care of a true plantsman. I spent a wonderful few hours just taking it all in as Kevin took the time to give me a tour of his plant and stone and water paradise. Thank you so much Kevin and Clare,I loved every minute.

It's no exaggeration to describe this wonderful garden as unique - so many different plants, so many different habitats for animals and birds, the large pond with its mass of waterlilies, and a whole range of garden buildings, patios and view points. And all of this in half a acre! All sorts of redundant machinery and containers have been repurposed into troughs and pots for plants, each with a different arrangement of stone or rock as a backdrop to the plants themselves. My personal favourite was the alpine house - all sorts of rarities in an extraordinary display. Kevin is generous with his time and his knowledge, and it was an exceptional afternoon.

This was one of the best experiences during our visit to Ireland. It is evident that a lot of work goes into their garden with the rock scapes and amazing diversity of plants. It was interesting that they had so many rare and unusual plants from around the world. We came away with lots of ideas to do in our own yard.
