Julian and Mary were absolutely incredible. They are experts at teaching riding but also are quite good at photography and tour guiding as well. The trail leads to a 15th century castle with views that are indescribably beautiful. Perfectly behaved horses. All in all, it cannot be beat, even if you are a beginner. A++++ experience.

Cannot recommend Clarina Equestrian Centre enough. I’ve been treated with such genuine kindness and warmth from Mary and Gillian from day one of my lessons. They are patient, attentive and very professional at what they do. 10/10

If you are in Limerick, Adare, or any other local areas, you MUST go visit Clarina Equestrian Centre! Mary and Gillian are the best in the business and gave us the tour of a lifetime. Mary and her team gave us a quick riding refresher inside before Gillian took us to see the sites. They were so hospitable and provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience through the Irish countryside. Plus plus on top of this, wait until you meet Millie, Sophie & Berry

There is a small magical stable yard in the environs of Limerick. The ponies and horses are memorable and the guides, Gillian and Mary make certain you are looked after. If you want to feel the ambience that surrounds this place-then take a trek with your guide to a mystical castle on horseback. If you ride horses and love being in local countryside, call and book!

This place is a gem. I wanted to go horseback riding and this place came highly recommended by my hotel. I had an amazing experience trekking to the castle and taking in the view of Shannon. I was a bit nervous getting on the horse and soon realized that Mary and Gillian were quite the equestrian experts sharing their wealth of knowledge. I felt completely safe and had an amazing horse named Alwin. I tend to do trail rides when I travel and thought this would be a unique trail with the greenery and castle and it was beyond my expectations. This ride definitely took the cake. This was not only the highlight if my trip but the highlight of all of my riding experiences. I thought that the instructors could offer me some good tips as a rider so I went back the next day for a private lesson. I have no words to share how much I gained from their expertise. I will definately be back and hope to plan an equestrian adventure with a few friends. If i could give this review an extra star I would
THANKS GILLIAN AND MARY!!!

We booked our riding experience through our stay at Adare Manor. Gillian and Mary were both amazing. We learned so much in the 90 minutes we had! The ride up to the castle was something we will never forget.

Thank you so much for the adventure!

We highly recommend everyone goes to Clarina!

Upon my arrival I was greeted by Gillian who is an absolute gem- she was so warm and friendly and it was such a nice welcome- was disappointed she did not get to accompany me on the trek, but Brid who took me on the trek was lovely too!

I booked in for an hour trek which i was told would be 60 euros, although having arrived 20 minutes earlier than my booking time of 12, we only set off around 12.30.

The trek was not what i expected at all. It was mainly all roads and then up to this beautiful castle where the majority of the time Brid took pictures which was nice but didn't need to spend so much time doing that. There was no trotting really as we were on roads with passing cars and no cantering at all. I was expecting more of a trek through woodlands/countryside so was disappointed.

Upon our return back to the yard, I was quickly ushered to the owner to let her know how my experience was. I was slightly shocked when she proceeded to tell me because i had been out 1h30 i had to pay an extra 30 euros, bringing the cost up to 90 . This seemed unfair as we only left around 12.30 and it's not up to the customer to be checking their watch to say bring me back on time/within the hour. She also proceeded to tell me she had to "fit me in" because there was a horse-show on and it was very busy, and that it was an extra charge because i was on my own and not as part of a group.

None of this was communicated beforehand and the owner's "customer service" left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, had i known i would have taken my business elsewhere. It's a shame really, as my initial experience was very positive.

Looking at the other reviews, they mainly seem to be tourists with not much experience really, so i can understand why this trek would be appealing, as it really is beautiful once you reach the castle- but for experienced riders, I would not recommend this if you are looking for a more "exhilarating" ride.

We spent two weeks in Ireland and did all the tourist stuff but this was our highlight. Everyone was so great in teaching us their way to ride and riding up to historic monument was beautiful! “Sam” (my horse) was also aware I was a non experienced rider and was so gentle with me. Staff was incredibly patient as well! Highly recommend!!

I had two wonderful days of riding with Mary and her daughter Gillian on a recent vacation to the area. I'm an experienced equestrian and it can sometimes be difficult to find the right situation, especially on vacation.

This is a charming local establishment that gives great instruction (I had a proper jump lesson one day) as well as providing scenic treks. I rode two different lovely Irish Sport Horses, the tack was of high quality and safety a priority..

Mary really worked with me to provide me with the experience I was looking for; a combination of instruction and hacking out. The lesson was excellent and I have some beautiful photos to remember our lovely hack to the castle.

They both Mary and Gillian couldn't have been kinder and I had a fantastic experience.

My wife and I just got done with a wonderful trek to the castle ruins. This was a last minute decision to book the trek and. Mary and her daughter were very accommodating and welcoming. After a bit of training and riding in the stables we went out and rode to the castle. The view was wonderful, the weather great and our horses Sam and Jessie were great as well.

I would definitely recommend this experience to others visiting Limerick as a must do.
