Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A once great pub that I will never go to again. I'm just going to copy here what I've written about my experience on Facebook
" Something happened on the night The National played in Limerick (5th of June 2022) that I've been in two minds to share. It's often said that if you've got something on your mind, take a pause before taking action. So I have, and I still feel that I want to share this.
So, my wife and I got out for a few drinks and a gig in Limerick for the first time in forever. We started out in The Commercial Bar for a couple of drinks before heading to the Dock Road for The National. We had a ball it must be said, so we decided to stay out a while. We headed to Dolans and had a quick drink before it got crazy busy and started heading towards town for one last drink before heading home.
We kept walking while we were deciding on where to go and found ourselves outside Mickey Martins.
Mary and I have fond memories of Mickeys, and it is in fact the place where I plucked up the courage to ask Mary out on a date. That was in 1999. We had many a good night in there, and on a couple of occasions before I met my lovely wife, I even crashed upstairs after a long night of it, when Mickey Martin Jr. ran the gaff. Great days indeed.
Now I know that pubs change, where the older punters stop coming because of life changes, mortgages, parenthood, and even just age and the associated apathy that comes with it. And we weren't thinking it would be the same at all. The decor maybe, but the punters definitely not. And I was right, and that's perfectly fine.
Now what I did expect to be the same was the manners of the staff, or one individual in particular. I don't know his name, but to describe him, he had a mop of dark red hair, a beard to match and a drop earring, dangling from his left ear. From here on I shall refer to him as Earring.
So we went in to the bar, and I went to order a couple of sherbets while Mary used the facilities. I went to the bar counter which wasn't busy at all. There were maybe 6 people at the bar but none of them were looking for drinks. I know this because Earring pointed at each individual along the bar, by ways of asking each of them were they okay. He stopped just before me and turned on his heels to go back to his colleagues to do some more wall leaning and guffawing, but I just managed to catch his attention with my raised hand before he made a complete turn.
Earring: "Relax kid". He goes on his way, but not before I half muttered "Relax?" in response.
Earring heard, and turned around again. "Oh-ho! Now you're going to be waiting longer!" and laughed. What a great young fella.
People that know me are going to be astonished at this, but I kept my cool. We left quietly.
I can't understand this rudeness in anyway. I really can't. It could have really ruined what was a great night out with my wife, and god knows we needed it, my wife especially.
I've worked in customer service for many years, and in a sense I still do, as the co-owner of a hair salon where I pride myself on the customer service I give to our lovely clients. I couldn't imagine any scenario where I would speak to a customer in this fashion, or allow anyone working for us to behave this way.
Astonishing.... I'll leave it here.

Mickey Martins is a lively, friendly pub. Real log fire, wooden furniture, cosy nooks and crannys. This was my first visit, though I had heard about it before. I will definitely go back anytime I'm in Limerick. Lovely feel to the atmosphere.

Absolutely awful experience. Was recommended this place by the staff at the strand Hotel where we were staying.
We walked in of a very quiet night (Thursday 25th) and as there was no member of staff to meet us at the door, so we proceeded to walk to the bar, all wearing face coverings and fully sanitised at the door. A man that we think was management asked us did we sign in and we explained that there was no staff at the door he then said in a horrible manner 'are ye seriously walking into a bar two years into a pandemic and expecting a drink'?. We thought he was joking with us for a minute until he said aggressively ' are ye serious, 2 years into a pandemic and ye walk into a bar expecting to get a drink' . We were gobsmacked with him and explained again there was no staff to direct us were to go or what the procedure was. Another member of staff landed with a clip board and asked him if she would take our details and he raised his hand (in a stop gesture) and said 'i haven't decided if I will be serving them or not. My friend asked hin if he wanted to serve us or should we go somewhere else... In which he said' yes that would be a good idea '. I
Cant believe that a bar would have this approach to good custom in such challenging times let alone on an extremely quiet Thursday evening. We went to the bar next door and haf a fantastic evening and left a €180 of a bill. This is possibly a lovely bar but a very ignorant member of staff may serve you (or not depending on his mood). Avoid if you don't want your evening potentially distorted.

One of my favourite spots for a drink in Limerick. Staff are lovely and all making a huge effort to abide by Covid restrictions. The only downfall is the food during the day, which is average - wraps, nachos, etc. However, the evening food from Sambros is fantastic and represents a great partnership between the two local businesses. Such a lovely place with great character and even dog friendly which is a huge plus. Will always be top of my list for a drink on a lovely day, or a cosy pint by the fire when it’s miserable outside
