Best pub in Kilkenny
Aug 2021 • Friends
Had an absolute blast in Tynan's. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been nicer. The owner Liam is part welcoming committee, part witty raconteur and part musical compere. We could not have been made more welcome. There is a great buzz in the place and the music in the evening is fantastic. Will definitely go back when I'm next in Kilkenny.

A true Irish bar
Aug 2021 • Couples
We had three nights in Kilkenny and we visited Tynan's each night. It's smallish and dark, and quirky. Bottom line was that we felt comfortable there. The background music selections were all over the place, probably compiled over many years. Side seats without tables are not terribly comfortable but better than going to another bar. Prices are consistent with other places.

Great old pub, love music here!

Really enjoyed our pints we had here. Spent some time with owner, think his name was Liam, great guy. Really cares about keeping the old style pub atmosphere alive. It’s also the oldest pub in Kilkenny I believe which is cool.

If you only go In one bar in Kilkenny, make sure it's Tynan's !
Jan 2020
I had some time to kill on a Sunday afternoon in Kilkenny before I headed off back to the airport and decided I wanted a beer in a cozy , traditional place. I chose Tynan's and I'm so glad I did.

The moment I walked in , Liam , the owner, engaged with me and asked me where I was from. I was on my own and he invited me over to take a seat and join him and some of the other regulars. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. And the Guinness ? top notch !

The music in the bar was fantastic - some really interesting tracks e.g. have you ever heard John Prine's version of I Just Called To Say I Love You ? If you haven't , get it - it's so simple and stripped back and has a heartfelt quality that is totally absent from the original . There were so many interesting songs covering lots of genres which complemented the great company and enjoyable conversation. (They told me a great story of when Robert Plant came into the bar. )

A couple of hours went by in no time and if it hadn't have been for the fact that I had a car booked to take me back to Dublin airport , I'd still be there now !

Kilkenny is a lovely town and it was only a fleeting visit , but I will definitely go back and will make sure I pay a longer visit to Tynan's.

Thank you Liam and your customers for your fine hospitality, the music , the USB stick and such an enjoyable afternoon.

(Liam took my address and told me he would send me a USB stick with mp3 files of the music that was playing ,and lots more . It arrived the followed week !)

Simply the best.

Perfect old Victorian pub with its fittings still intact. Cosy, dimly lit, not a television to be seen.

Excellent pints pulled by friendly bar staff and a decent back bar including some rare whiskies - all at extremely reasonable prices too.

And probably the best playlist in Ireland on the sound system. In the last ten minutes I’ve heard the Goo Goo Dolls, Patsy Cline and Otis Redding.

Kilkenny has plenty of decent pubs. This is simply the best of them.

Perfect Irish Pub!
Nov 2019
We stopped in Tynan's Bridge House Bar based on a recommendation we got from our waiter at the Butcher Restaurant. This is an absolute DO NOT MISS this place! This was one of the best evening we had on our week in Ireland! The bar manager, Liam, and he two friends were a blast. We laughed, drank, and laughed some more! Great place - Highly recommend!

What a night.....Monday beginning of the week you’d expect a quiet night, not the case, busy busy and with STEPHEN on the guitar the place was buzzing. Fantastic music with superb Irish coffee and Guinness ☘️
