Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

St. Mary's Cathedral has seen more than its share of Irish history and not all of it good. It was a Catholic Cathedral when Oliver Cromwell attacked the town in 1650. His soldiers trashed the interior, broke open the tombs and melted down the lead to make bullets. He then used the building as a stable for his army's horses. Fortunately, some of its character from the Middle Ages survives. I also recommend climbing the tower if you don't have physical limitations. It takes quite the effort, but it is worth it for the view. Just don't do it when it is raining.

Well kept Cathedral that is worth seeing, if even just as a pitstop while walking around the city. I wouldn't go there to see that specifically, but it's good for what it is.

Interesting to see an open roof trusses, without the usual Gothic starry vaults to be seen on the Continent. The blueish tint to the Kilkenny limestone gives this cathedral an unprecedented atmosphere. A cathedral true to the Gothic genius loci splendour.

This cathedral in Kilkenny is very impressive, inside and out. The stained glass windows are particularly nice.

It is a beautiful church but not like the cathedral. Still worth to explore it, as it will be hard to miss, given its size! Nice interior.

Beautiful Cathedral! High vaulted wooden ceilings - beautifully painted ceiling about the alter and stunning exterior. This Cathedral towers over Kilkenny.

We found this church a lovely place to come and pray, inside the lighting was very well done.

The organ music made it feel even more of a spiritual home

While exploring Kilkenny you can’t help but notice this huge church from a distance. As you approach it’s presences is enormous and right near an all boys school. You can go inside to check it out for free. It’s stunning! It’s huge and high ceilings. You can walk around and see all the details of the building. Definitely worth checking out!

Consecrated in 1857, it was a marvellous achievement to take to completion during some of the most troubled times in Irish history. Through the ravages of the disastrous famine, its construction continued with the aid of multitudes of small donations from impoverished people.

It’s a magnificent construct at a high point in the city. Neo-Gothic in style the spires and other features are wonderful to behold.

Stepping inside is to see a grand expansive nave bounded by impressive columns and arches. The vision along the central aisle to the high altar is magnificent.

Around the latter is gorgeous with lustrous stained glass windows and beautiful mosaic holy images. A ceiling of dark wood is another outstanding feature.
