Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Charged €147 for a pint and a gin and tonic. I understand people make mistakes but this is a costly one. Promised that the money would be refunded immediately, I am still waiting on a refund. After processing the refund the manager then charged me again after his worker had made the costly mistake. When the money had not been returned immediately, I asked to speak to the manager again but he had miraculously gone home. Still waiting on my refund. Avoid avoid avoid.

We called to this pub a couple of evenings ago. We ordered 2 alcoholic drinks and 2 glasses of tap water. We were told (and not pleasantly) that the glasses of water would cost €2 each (we didn't even want ice!). This is, in our view, an unacceptable charge and not at all normal in Ireland. So we left. If we had stayed we would have bought 5 alcoholic drinks so would have spent about €35 minimum. Drink prices in Kilkenny city are not particularly cheap (about Dublin suburban prices rather than rural Ireland prices) so I think the Dylan would have made enough profit from us without this added attempt to price goudge us. We might have enjoyed it if we had stayed as there were a couple of great guitarists. But this experience was very unpleasant. Bad marks to you Dylan.

This is the second time we had to leave the Dylan as we couldn't get served in a timely manner - I would hare to be in there if it was busy. The older lady serving was on her own and told us there were customers in front of us to be served but there didn't seem to be any organisation to the place. Won't be going there again and we are from Kilkenny.

We arrived into the bar and asked if there were any whiskeys with honey in them to which we were quickly told "no" by the not so friendly bar man. Perhaps he could have started his next sentence with "But the closest thing to a whiskey honey is..." I later discovered that there were a number of whiskeys which contained honey. He locked the front door at 11.30 which is the usual procedure but then disappeared from the bar and never even called last orders!! Disappointing experience from a whiskey enthusiast. Lovely interior to the bar.

Bianca is a friendly and very knowledgeable bartender! She could tell us anything we wanted to know about Irish whiskey and gin. And Owen makes a fantastic gimlet! Everything from the music to the lighting was perfect. We had a great time at this classy yet laid back bar.

This bar supports the Kilkenny Whiskey Guild. The staff are very knowledgeable and personable. Fortunately for us, the night we visited was not too busy so we were able to benefit from a very positive educational session on Irish Whiskies. As whiskey enthusiasts we were very much at home here and closing time came much too soon.

We had a great experience at Dylan's during our recent holiday to Kilkenny - in part because Jimmy spent some time talking to us about the Whiskey Guild and Irish Whiskey in general. Great staff, wonderful whiskeys and craft cocktails by Katie. Can't wait for our next trip!

We visited Dylan’s after dinner last night. It was a perfect spot with dark wood bar, leather high back chairs and red hews. Bianca was working the bar and had extensive knowledge of the over hundred whiskeys. I would definitely return and hope Bianca would be there to take care of us.

Stopped off in this great pub for a drink, just a short walk from our hotel, and on the way to our chosen restaurant. Great selection of drinks, including my personal favourite Irish whiskey. A cosy pub, and very comfortable. Recommended.

This is a fabulous place for a whisky lover to hole up for a few hours. There is a very extensive list of whisky options. Sadly not us but there was a great drinks choice and very friendly service. Other customers were trying out the whisky flights.
