Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Doesn’t look Irish from the outside, but the decor on the inside is great! Very cozy, Iike you’re in your own basement. Nothing but men when we walked in. Not sure if that’s standard or what but it was good for a drink. Obviously a bar catering to locals as everyone looked at us like we had horns growing out of our foreheads, but didn’t affect the delicious taste of the Guinness’s poured there 🍻

This pub just can't be missed visually being quite substantial and painted blue. We didn't eat but had a look around the pub with a few beers in the open area out the front. The staff were very friendly chatting freely and serving professionally. Kilkenny has loads of good pubs but this one on this performance matches any of them.

Couldn't get the drink I wanted in an hotel bar just down the street, so left and ventured to the top of the street to The Blue Bar. It's a lovely building, outdoor seating, nice wrought iron balustrades. Classy first impression. Inside, a couple of separate rooms with one bar running between both. Very attentive barman, lovely atmosphere and speedy, friendly service. A good spot to watch sports I suspect. Must call again.

New barman very rude, and disrespectfull, we were regular costumers there we usually went in like 3 times a week, and this monday when we decide to go again, we tried to buy drinks and the barman said he won't serve us without a age card, as i do not hold a age card i said i could provide another type of id, to wich he replyed very rude and grumpy that he wont give us any drink because the law say he is only aloud to accept age card!! I have like a year going there with my friends and they never asked me for age card or any type of id. He was very disrespectfull with us, i will definetly never go again either my friends with ho i usually went there ...

The place oozes personality. Great pub, kid friendly (the all important wifi is available) pool table upstairs. We go every day when in Kilkenny.

This is the first pub we went to in Ireland. The bar tender was very friendly, informative and genuine. He let me go behind the bar and pour my own Guinness and take pictures (yes, dorky tourists, I know). We watched a game of Hurling and he educated us about the sport. The place itself is comfortable, we enjoyed it.

Popped into this place just across the street from our hotel, and ended up staying for a couple hours. Mostly locals from what I could tell, and they all want to strike up a conversation. Told dirty jokes, met what has to be Ireland's Duck Dynasty guy, a hen party...what great fun off the beaten path.
