Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Capuchin monks established an almshouse on this site in the latter half of the 18th century. The lovely church we see today was established in the mid-1800s.
An impressive nave of light pink hue takes the sight to the fine altar area. Columns and arches sweep along and provide space with side chapels and various offerings.
Beautifully decorative, the high altar has a holy painting as its backdrop, complemented with attractive stone work.
Striking statuary is to be seen. One sculpture shows the poignant scene of Christ down from the cross with grieving women around him.

A place of quiet peace and reflection. Beautiful decoration. This an active church with daily Mass and should be respected as such. But all very welcome.

Situated very close to the heart of the wonderful Marble City of Kilkenny is the Capuchin Friary. It is a beautiful building and it's interior serene and tranquil. The surroundings are inspiring and help one with thoughtful contemplation. My mother is a regular here and finds great comfort and solace. The brothers are very generous with their time and charitable efforts.

Very beautiful church. They have an adoration chapel off the main church. Very peaceful and open all the time. Lovely little shop attached to this church selling religious articles and mass cards. Very helpful staff, friendly and welcoming priests. Wish we have this church in Dublin.

As the title says, the friary is an absolute oasis of calm, peacefulness and spirituality in the city of Kilkenny. While the architecture or building design is not of note, the interior design and amount of light that great windows let through, combine to create the atmosphere.
If you want 15 minutes solitude away from the hustle and bustle, visit the friary but do so respectfully. It is worth it.

I went there twice: Once during a visit in September, which gave us a good resting place away from the bustle of High Street.
The second time was Christmas Day for the church service in Irish. That was obviously quite an experience. Not the whole service was in Irish, but most of it. It is not only fascinating to experience a church service in a different language than English, but also interesting to watch the locals meet and greet.

Inside this Church is incredibly beautiful, with little side Chapels you can go in to pray, light your candles & visit Beautiful Statues, my Favourits are The Sacred Heart, up on the main Altar & St Padre Pio's which is located inside the church, in a partitioned off area, if you desire peace & quiet, while you pray & reflect.
There's a little office in the Grounds where you can purchase mass cards & have mass offered up for loved ones.
The Capuchin Brothers also share out Large Food parcels each Tuesday Mornings to the needy, which I think is a fantastic service for those in need in the city, so I'm certain, donations would be very welcomed & Greatly received!
