History dating back to medieval times. Beautifully restored to Victorian style. Interesting self-guided tour with staff along the way to answer questions. Definitely worth a visit.

The first castle I've been in that I haven't been frozren! Helpful, knowledgeable staff, stunning layout and a great cafe. A pity the Song of the Sea exhibition was over but lovely grounds. Don't miss it.

we walked the grounds of the castle early in the morning which was beautiful and we then visited the castle later in the day. We were glad to see you could browse around yourself and were not confined to a guided tour. The guides were available and only happy to help if required but not pushy. It only took a... More

From the well equipped kids playground to the great trees for climbing and hills to run up (and down), kids and parents spent a lovely few hours out in the air. And even better that there's somewhere to grab a cup of coffee! Worth a... More

This place was stunning, walking in the grounds and enjoying the peacefulness, walking up and seeing this stunning castle, the way the restoration works have been carried out inside, it was like stepping back in time.

Nicely situated in the middle of the city, very easy to get to. It's only €8 to get in for the self-guided tour, which takes 45 min-1 hour. Lots of nice exhibits with a fairly extensive collection of artifacts from Medieval era and up.

We had a limited amount of time in Kilkenny. Although our tour bus stopped in front of the castle, we decided to explore the length of the village because we had heard it was so charming. And it was. There were many interesting walkways, shops and pubs along the way. At the end of the village is an old church... More
