Kilkenny castle is preserved in the style of a Victorian manor (so don't count on it for your medieval castle experience). We enjoyed the tour, which was about 45 minutes and full of information. One tip: if you are taking the last tour of the day, try to arrive with some time to wander around the grounds before the tour... More

Beautiful castle with lots of history and the tour is great and very informative. Also the grounds surrounding are beautiful, this is a good place to spend a couple hours. A must do in Kilkenny.

This is a great castle to tour the inside, it has a lot of rooms and furniture. The grounds are absolutely beautiful! Would visit again.

It was one of the last places I visited but it was the highlight of my trip. I love seeing different architecture and this was a fabulous restoration.

We went after our Smithwicks tour. This should have been our first stop. It was covered in fog and we could barely see passed the walls near the cafe. If it's sunny hurry up and stop there. Don't wait like we did. I'm sure it would have looked amazing.

The castle is fully restored and worth a visit. The grounds are large and are nice location for a picnic or a walk

My friend got married here back in August and it was simply beautiful. We had amazing weather on the day, and the grounds are stunning - her pictures will be fabulous.

I saw quite a few castles in Ireland, but I feel this is the best!! Why? It ticks ALL the boxes: huge, easily accessible, very enthusiastic guides (more on this later), and they allow photos!!!!!!! You can snap away at everything!!!!!!!! And it is indeed very very photogenic, both from inside AND outside. NOT TO BE MISSED!!! Now a special... More

took the tour in kilkenny castle and from the start the guide had great info and stories , it brings you from the early origins or the norman parts to later extentions and you see evertthing from posh dining rooms to bedrooms that kings slept in to a toilet bowl that was so big you could have a bath in....
