Went for a walk around castle & grounds on a recent visit to Kilkenny. Well worth a visit to see such a fantastic building. Located in the heart of Kilkenny, plenty of parking nearby. Lovely open air cafe on the grounds. Great scenery and lovely woodlands area walks.

Went here on day trip from Dublin. The grounds are huge and a lovely walk round, about 2 miles on the full loop. We just missed a tour so had to pre book the next one. The tour itself was good and the rooms in the castle were lovely. The guide was very knowledgeable. Would recommend this.

Wonderful and superb medieval castle in the very middle of the city. Well worth going into the castle and taking the guided tour. The guides are knowledgeable, engaging and customer friendly. The history of the castle is so deep and the guides bring it alive. The park in which the castle is situate is a wonderful amenity for a stroll,... More

there is lots to hear about in the castle but The castle playground is a must if you have children 10 or under. There is also an outdoor coffee shop nearby on the ground selling ice creams and cakes - useful for the parents!

When in Kilkenny the castle is the must to visit. Great guided tour had at a good price per person. Patrick the guide was very informative!! Make sure you watch the history presentation pre the tour. Reason I didn't give 5 stars here is due to the cafe which unfortunately doesn't offer value for money. €3.95 for a danish pastry... More

We purchased two student tickets and took the tour around the rooms of the castle. The tour was quite good, the lady leading it did a good job at immersing us into life as the Butler family. Really liked the tapestry room and the library. The tour also felt interactive, we were quizzed on our knowledge of what certain items... More

I have visited the castle many times and every visit is a pleasure. The ticket is very reasonable and it is a local treasure.
