You can walk around in your own but suggest taking the tour which is about 45 minutes. Our guide was most entertaining and a good storyteller. This is a good site just outside Kilkenny and wasn't too crowded.

Had an excellent tour of the caves. Learned about the history and geology. Very interesting and good tour guide! Highly recommend to stop here if you're in Kilkenny.
