I would highly recommend Castletown house for a family walk day out. With a house tour and onsite coffee shop its excellent for everyone. The gardens and estate walks are beautiful. They also have a farmers market once a month on a Sunday. The parking is accessible from the N6. You can also park in Celbridge village but it is... More

Our family and Grandchildren had a most enjoyable walk around the extensive estate. It has woodland and rivers and very well maintained grounds and the fresh air is exhilarating . We had missed the last tour of the magnificent house, which holds a special place, in the history of Ireland. We will be back. One slight " niggle"- there are... More

Castletown is an Ireland heritage site outside of Dublin. This very large country house has an interesting history that I plan on reading more about. Our tour guide was very informative and really enjoyed sharing her knowledge of this historic home. The setting is beautiful with families enjoying the outside grounds. The rooms that have been restored are amazing both... More

If it's a long stroll your after, with or without, the dog then this is the place for you. Market takes place on Sunday which is nice to stroll around as well and good bit of activity in the place

Hi Ciarrai2014, Thank you for your review. Yes, I completely agree! Castletown is just perfect if you're looking to go out for a brisk walk, or a nice leisurely stroll by the Liffey. We also host a number of 5km runs, that might be of interest? With funding from Failte Ireland we were able to restore and re-instate the pond... More

I loved this house, the history and all the rooms. I was lucky enough to have a private tour with Sandra - friendly guide, who was giving an amazing historic tour of the house and the family who owned it.

We took some relatives visiting from Canada to see this fabulous house. The tour was fantastic and so informative. We learned so much about the house and the people who lived there. It took about a hour. We have coffee / tea and cakes after. This could have been better and if so the overall score would have been a... More

Tour guide was excellent and very well spoken, the tour lasted about an hour. The house is beautiful once owned by the richest man in Ireland. Nice visit for anyone interested in Georgian architecture and interior design. The cafe is a bit of a let down but it's the only place to eat. It's the only thing I would change... More
