Castletown is the first and largest mansion in Ireland and is just 20km from Dublin City Centre and sits on the banks of the River Liffey. The house is open daily for tours Mid March to the 31st October 2016, access to the house is by guided tour. Admission fee to the house see website for prices. FREE admission to the restored 18th century parklands, open daily throughout the year. For gate opening times see website or refer to the signs on the site. Extensive events programme which includes: Children's art and craft workshops, free music recitals, parkland tours, evening concerts, 'Family nights' in the Courtyard Café for all this and more refer to website.

Top attraction.A must see. Take a guided tour and you will experience how colourful the history of this house is. Follow the life and actions of Lady Louisa! Nice tearooms as well!

I visited with 2 friends on Tuesday September 19th. I'm sorry to say that my experience of the cafe was completely unworthy of the magnificent house and grounds. My friends and I ordered lunch together. They both chose quesadilla and I asked for duck salad....More

Went to see the house as my son was interested in its history and architecture. Visit (self guided tour) was good and there's some changes being made from previous visits. There still is improvement works ongoing inside and outside. Inside there's new furnishings and decorations...More

Beautiful surroundings and beautiful outdoor scenery dog friendly but must be kept on a lead. Also you can go into the house for a tour for a fee

The hours vary at different times of year, but the vehicle and pedestrian gates allow access to the parklands for extended hours. From May through August, those gates remain open until 10:15 PM. TripAdvisor will not allow me... More
